Final wine from our tasting at Antinori just outside Florence in their state of the art facility. All 3 wines matured in French or Hungarian Barriques. Initial barnyard aromas which blew off to reveal florals like lavender and peony. Oak is perfectly balanced and does not intrude in any of the 3 wines tasted. This district is not traditional for Syrah (only since 2000) but suits it perfectly - sandy soils. More savoury and meaty than fruit driven. — 8 months ago
Lovely. Drank over two nights. Aroma built nicely, warm on the way down — 2 years ago
Very understated nose with blackberry, a bit of roast, leather & a touch of black pepper.
On the palate this is very, very elegant - much more Pinot like that a burly Syrah.
Very fine polished tannins, great depth, beautiful purity of fruit. So juicy, elegant & complex. Quite serious and yet so drinkable. A true beauty. — 8 months ago
Chalky with fantastic berry and tannins. Opened it to kick off Shabbat.
I wish I’d ordered a few more bottles. — 7 months ago

"this Merlot pours out dark Ruby with notes of black fruit, chocolate, and tobacco (with maybe gunpowder?), and a strong jammy body". From Cortona's Leuta winery, 1,618 is the "Super-Tuscan". — 10 months ago
Last ‘17 in cellar! In the heart of the Chianti lies Estate of Sette Ponti, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past village of San Giustino Valdarno. Has 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques, deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with blossom notes, spice and fine integrated tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Nice! Will age a bit more! Tasting well now! — 2 years ago

Deep ruby coloration. No translucency. On the nose, cherry, plum, forest floor, oak and vanilla. On the palate, full bodied, cherry, plum, spice, pepper, and long finish of vanilla and cherry. Very nice value wine. — 2 months ago
