Hard to remain uninfluenced by the James Suckling rating of 90 right there on the label, but it’s got a nice bold flavor. — 13 days ago
Columbia county 2.0: end of a meal, nightcap of sorts. So so perfumed with dill & vanilla & tree sap, as if Willy Wonka decided to get into winemaking. Really just lived for a while breathing this in. On palate it’s remarkably agile & light, even though the body of red fruits is firmly medium boned. No signs of decay or slowing down- even the cork was perfect-easily can go on another several decades ( it feels). God what a treat. — 6 days ago
Jan 2023: at peak, great! — 13 days ago
Aargh! One of the wines of 2022, and I forgot to add it on here. This, the 2005 Blanco Reserva, was enjoyed in October as part of a Spanish themed evening at home. Decanted for around three hours and enjoyed with cured meats and Manchego, which for me are the perfect accompaniments for Lopez de Heredia’s whites. An absolutely memorable wine, glowing from the very beginning and lasting for minutes on the palate. I adore these wines which for me can be counted among the world’s finest white wines. — 19 days ago
Brent Young
4 yrs in & oak, 6 yrs bottle age
No LdH rose between 00 and 2008
DAY 1
That color….
👃cranberry, melon, orange blossom, minerals, smoke
👅Citrus, but savory. Salty, smoke, hints of cellar and tea. Unreal complexity. Crisp acidity. Every sip is unique
Slow Decanted the remnants in my refrigerator
DAY 11
Just let this breathe and warm. Then fireworks. It's everchanging. Even more dynamic on day 11 after the slow decant. Red and citrus fruit, florals, almonds, flowers, smoke, hard candy…any tasting note is a snapshot
If you drink this, don't rush the experience
