Bramaterra Belvedere Nebbiolo Blend 2010

Lyle Fass
9.3

Love aged nose. Sous bois Italian style. Terrific spice. Lovely array of spice. Very complex and engaging. Mid season cherries. Palate is juicy and deep with beautiful mid season cherrie and terrific structure, depth and concentration. Lovely spice on the palate. Lingers. Very well balanced and some sauvage elements as well. Long finish. Not that elegant but beastly in a good way. Terrific juiciness that lingers. — 8 days ago

Tenuta Monolo

Riserva Bramaterra Nebbiolo Blend 1990

A somewhat stunningly beautiful snapshot of evolution in a bottle. Definitely do not wait on this at this point (and no need to decant, but there is a ton of sediment). Pale brick red in the glass. Aromatically very nice, but lost a bit as the night wore on. Quite pure and fresh on the palate with light red cherries, dried red flowers, good acid, long finish. Very fun one to try. — a month ago

Nero Grande

Appassimento Puglia Nero di Troia 2019

Wow, this wine makes my mouth water for more! Lots of red fruit on the palate. Though earthy on the nose it’s very good! I love the smoothness of this wine. Very nice finish. Will definitely buy again. — a month ago

@CookDrinkFeast yes! @Trixie it’s actually a homemade beef pot pie! It was so good! I made the gravy with some of the wine.

Uva Non Grata

Gamay 2019

McCarthy & Schiering, $16

Typical Gamay fruit bomb so of course I love it. Quite dry, low acidity and tannins. It does have a cranberry-like bitterness in the finish that I'm not crazy about. Not my favorite Gamay but still really nice!

Puer Apuliae Castel del Monte Nero di Troia 2003

A very acidic, intense red wine that is perfect for steak. Powerful tannins in the finish are now smooth yet bitter. The nose is intense dark red fruit. Strong leather to start, and tannic to finish. An excellent wine. — a month ago

Torrevento

Riserva Vigna Pedale Castel del Monte Nero di Troia 2015

Pretty solid rustic Nero di Troia. Probably the best of my 4-5 samples of this grape. 3 bicchieri is a stretch but it’s not like the Gambero Rosso guys don’t make worse calls. — 2 months ago
