Cullen Mangan at 18 years - superbly delicious and reintegrated compared to where it was at 10 years old. The Malbec and Petit Verdot still seem to oxidize at different rates upon opening, but each stop on the train is interesting and delicious. At about an hour out it is scrumptious. Well crafted and worth laying down for a good long while — a month ago
Young Cali Cab Sav. Nose at open, Maraschino cherries with layer or cigar box cedar sting. First taste BIG red berry front, followed by sage next car on the flavour train, white pepper, oak barrel char followed up by a caboose of eucalyptus burn.
The wine needs 40 minutes of breathing @ temp of 18C. After this it lengthens and balances better. The front remains very juicy with Raspberry cough drop sweetness, flowing into green pepper corns, Cohiba cigar smoke and medium length finish. Cheers🍷 — 5 months ago
Fruit forward with flavors of cherry, black currant, and ripe plum. A bit of black tea on the long finish. Pairs perfectly with an afternoon on the train to California! — 2 months ago
Enjoyable, solid value Brunello Di Montalcino at €22 across Milan train station. Notes of cherry plum and blackberry fruits combine with a complex mixture of smokey vanilla undergrowth which imparts earthy leather undertones. Medium body. Decent 2hr min, as there are strong tannins (Also probably drinking this a few years young) for a 2014 in 2020. — 3 months ago
Continuing on the Rhone train today! This is a delightful Lirac - full-bodied, ripe and rich with soft tannins. 45/40/15 GSM blend, so a high percentage of Syrah which really gives the wine it’s character. Made by the Cave de Vigneron de Tavel (the co-op). Many wines made by co-ops are extremely good these days. Just look at Produttori in Barbaresco! This is approachable now and delightful to drink. Well-done! 2017 vintage on Mar 22, 2017 — 7 months ago
First taste (just after opening the bottle) hit like a freight train.
When allowed to open up and breathe for a few minutes, great taste of leather, tobacco and oak. Went great with an entrecote and provence-flavoured potatoes! — 3 months ago
This wine talks. It has personality. It’s alluring, dimensions, evolves as it opens. Moves from bold dark fruit to smooth pleasure train. The journey of this wine is near perfect. Compare against Kosta Browne. 2016 vintage, gold. — 6 months ago
Ok so the barnyard funk was a turn off. I mean, it was the funk train. But after a while, like, a day, the funk blew off and it left a delightful tart cherry gem. Dried cherries, blueberries, red currant. Really charming actually. But def better the second day. — 8 months ago
