Warm dusty cherry & raspberry with with moss, warm earth, a fresh herby streak & whiff of orange peel.
On the palate this is fresh, lively, with zippy acidity, quite firm tannins and light yet fragrant on the fruit.
Great purity here & beautiful drinkability. I’d love to see more depth & complexity, but thieves really nice. — a month ago
Another great version of this Bouzeron. Lime zest and minerals on the nose. Super clean and fresh. Terrific palate. Has a lovely balance between richness and freshness. Textured and deep. Awesome purity, depth and structure. Love the combo of richness allied with freshness. Decent length. But what a mid palate. — 6 days ago
Much cooler & more savoury than the Chaponniere. Starts quite reductive & closed but after 1h shows herby freshness, light raspberries, fresh huckleberries, a light touch of mushroom & hint of mint.
On the palate this shows some weight, with firm yet juicy tannins, good depth, sappy acidity. This is more savoury and more ‚foody‘ vs the Chaponniere yet also more complex & with more character.
Both unmistakably Cote Chalonnaise. — a month ago
2015 vintage. Many Côte de Beaune wines from the famous appellations like Meursault are out of reach for many winelovers, but thankfully there is terrific stuff to be found in less prestigious parts of Burgundy and Château de Chamirey is a safe bet. This "village" Mercurey comes from 6 different plots with predominantly limestone and clay soils. Malolactic and alcoholic fermentations in barrel. Ageing in lightly toasted barriques (15% new). Bright yellow fruit and flowers. In the mouth it displays the richness of the 2015 vintage, but with impeccable balance and very good length. The oak is perfectly integrated and it has a certain complexity and very good length. Very good value as it outperforms many a Meursault at half the price. Kudos to the Devillard family. Highly recommended. — 8 hours ago
Still loving this simple Pinot. We paired it with a (very) hot and spicy turkey and rice dish and it held its ground brilliantly. Superb cherry nose with a tiny touch of iron and hay, nice lower acid palate with a vibrant cherry note and a soft mouthfeel. Very gentle tannins before a long cherry finish. Simple yet delicious — 20 days ago
