Xisto Ilimitado Douro Red Blend 2017

Interesting as a lighter style red blend from the Douro. Has a fine tannin grittiness, & small black berry approach that is very seductive to this palate. Most analogous to a Moulin A Vent. About 750 cases produced & usually found in restaurants, so quite blessed to drink w friends at Sunset. — a month ago

Xisto Ilimitado Douro Branco 2017

Really delicious Portuguese red. Tannins increase on the second glass, good heavy body, not too much fruit so nice and savoury - really good. Esperao esque! — 4 days ago

Vinhas Velhas Baga 2016

N: Roses, tar, eucalyptus, mint, pepper, Red flowers and fruits.
P:Bracing acidity, prickly, med-light body,( are we sure this isn’t Nebbiolo?)
Cherries, Very much like a cross between Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, and Sangiovese. I think I’ve said that before.
Black raspberry fruit, fine tannins, a med finish.!
As it sits in the glass, tobacco rears it’s head. The body fleshes out a bit. Acidity recedes.

Bodegas Luis Pérez

El Muelle de Olaso Carrascal 2017

This Andalusian producer does a wonderful red, so jumped at chance to try the blanco, & what a treat, especially for 13$. Solidly medium to big bodied, notes of white flowers, savory lemon curd, & verbena. Begs for food. Made by Luis Perez, who apparently does an old school, non solera aged sherry as well. Unfortunately paired with yet another Mets loss… — a month ago

A Torna Dos Pasas Escolma Brancellao Caiño 2009

Expert blend of rare Spanish grapes showing youth and age at the same time.

Has a brick hue from a decade in bottle, youth and vibrancy to go another two or three.

Smells like strawberry fruit leather, and new glove leather, and cedar and blackberry. Tastes like macerated strawberry pulp.
