Le Grand Noir

Domaine Trapet Père & Fils

Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Fruits rouges, griottes, un peu de bois mais sans lourdeur. Une bouche d’une belle classe et élégance, un équilibre exemplaire, approchable pour un 2015, excellent. 93-94

Red fruit, cherries, touch of wood that is mot disturbing. The palate has this generous fruit of the 2015, it is balanced, classy, elegant and approachable for a 2015. Gorgeous.

Louis Latour

Aloxe-Corton Grand Cru Domaine Latour Pinot Noir 2008

Had this at a tasting and bought several bottles, aged well, just opened last one. Aged for about 12 months in French oak barrels (15% new). Ruby, brown edges, with aromas of red and black stewed fruits and complex spice. On the palate, flavors of layered fruit, ripe black cherry and raspberry with cedar, tobacco, herbs and nutty notes. Full soft tannins, balanced acidity, long ending with fruit and earthy character. Outstanding! Worth the wait! — 11 days ago

Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2008

This Mazis was kicking! Delicious. Sappy red fruits, notes of tea. Hedonistic. — 12 days ago

Smooth but relatively complex burgundy. Fairly herbal — I wonder if I grabbed this one after many of the fruit flavors were more muted, but the leather/game flavors had not fully emerged. Would drink again, when older. $119. RP 92, feels about right. — 11 days ago

Nose dominates the palate. Proper but the depth and intensity is disappointing. — 2 days ago

Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Beautiful griotte , forrest floor, red currants, tightly wound, would benefit from a bit more cellaring — 9 days ago

Comtesse Gerin

Champagne Grand Cru Extra-Brut Pinot Noir

Bright rose tan gold. Shy nose of baked white cherry. Solid gold palate of dried apple, dried peach, and lightly charred brioche all with something saline on the entry and finish. Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs: made approachable by climate change (perhaps its only upside) and some good winemaking by the folks at Comtesse Gerin. Excellent starter with plenty of fruit balanced by linear leanness. Seafood, greens, fried chicken, popcorn, and such are waiting. Drink it when you buy it. — 22 days ago

Domaine Dujac

Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2011

This was not as expressive as I normally get out of Dujac but still enjoyable showing some black fruits, earth, crushed rock, spice & floral tones. A producer I buy every year from top to bottom but getting harder to source. — 7 days ago

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2006

Très beau même si c’est encore un bébé, beaucoup de matière, la structure et la texture d’un GC sont la par contre, bâti pour la route. 92-93

Very nice structure and texture, but still a baby, a little atypical of many 2006 I drank before from many producers.

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Un vin super jeune mais quel potentiel et quelle matière, très bon maintenant malgré la jeunesse. 93-94

Very young of course but such potential, density and structure, you can still feel this Grand Cru impression when you know it is special.
