Popped and poured after the Gonet-Medeville BdN 1er. This is also mostly Pinot Noir however with 20% Chardonnay. Comparatively, this pours a more pale color, again with a persistent mousse. Aromas of white flowers (specifically citrus blossom), white peach, and ever so lightly toasted brioche. On the palate, white peach, pink lady apple, lemon and minerals. Good acid. Long finish. Lovely texture. This came across as a noticeably more rich, refined, and elegant Champagne and it made a beautiful pairing with my selection of Mussels Dijonnaise. Disgorged August 21, 2018

The wine of choice tonight I have opened is the 2019 Jean-Max Roger Cuvée Marnes et Caillottes Sancerre. From the Loire Valley Bué, France.
On the nose there is lime, grapefruit, melon, hawthorn, flint and minerality.
On the palate is lime, gooseberry, grapefruit, lemon, smokey flint and minerality.
This wine is light to medium bodied with a fresh clean mouthfeel, medium + to high acidity with a long citrus mineral finish. I hooe everyone has had a wonderful weekend? With the week ahead lets all stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 6 days ago
First day of opening of the Terrasses in France, and I find this beautiful Morgon a la carte restaurant. (Luck!) What more to say than the comments do not already say? It is a superb wine, both young and with a few years in Cave. Jean Foillard produces remarkable wines at reasonable prices. I love it!
J’adore ! — 24 days ago
This is all about fragrance, fruit, and sweet spices. Texture is super soft. None of that crunchy, mineral-textured granite stuff, but a very elegant, feminine rendition. So much delicious fruit. Needs a careful decant, though, because there is a ton of that fine, floaty sediment that starts dispersing if you look at it wrong. — 16 days ago
My last bottle and age your Fichots! Please! This is glorious. 19 is close to 12 in spirit I think. What a nose. Ebullient, expressive and pure. Black raspberry and black cherry with a spicey earthy note. Floral and underbrush but clear. Just gorgeous and will only get better with air. Air and Fichots work well together. Ahh, the classic Fichots structure. Stoney, straight and long. Always needs an hour to open at any age but the length, balance and wow that length are there. Incredible fruit amplitude and volume. Sappy and pure. Wonderful finesse has arrived after some air. Just a beautiful wine and one of the best values of red burgundy I’ve ever encountered. It’s great every year but some years like 12/19 are better than other. Also 14. — 11 days ago
Early greedy syrah. Superbe mesmerising nose made of floral fragrances, violette flower forward, touch of pepper. A primeur wine full of charm.
Syrah primeur, gourmande. Superbe nez enivrant sur des fragrances florales violette en avant, touche poivrée. Vin primeur plein de charme. — 11 days ago
I’ve had this bottle sitting in my cellar pretty much since I got back from Riyadh, nearly 7 years ago. I’m not really sure why I held onto it as long as I did but whatever. It’s open now. In the glass, the wine pours a brilliant, deep golden color. A fully mature wine at this point with a whole host of secondary and tertiary characteristics on the nose: toasted bread, apricot marmalade, feta cheese, nuts, Vanilla Tootsie Roll (the blue wrapper), sour dough, desiccated tropical fruit, warm asphalt, and alfalfa. A truly strange combination but it’s all there, whether you want it to be or not. On the palate, dried apricot, flan, and cashews. Medium acid. The finish is long. At this later stage of its life, the 2010 Jean & Sebastien Dauvissat “Vaillons” is not a wine for everyone as there will no doubt be folks who’s palate will not agree with the oxidative character of the wine. That being said, I found it rather charming. Drink now. — 11 days ago
Crunchy bright, red fruit. Not the same depth as Foillard’s other Morgons, but everything’s in the right place. Just missing some of the Foillard magic. Maybe needs a little time. — 7 days ago
