Short notes tonight, post holiday dinner with our best buddy.
Nose has intense ripe cherry, ripe blackcurrant, moist cigar, dark chocolate shavings and wet cedar.
Palate has ripe black cherry, (light) blackberry, strong tannins and dry soil.
Many, many years to go here. — 7 days ago
We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.
Nose has vintage Port at ~20Y, blackberry, blackcurrant, ripe blueberry, rehydrated raisin, coffee grounds and soil from a forest fire
Palate has orange zest in blackberry jam, dried cherry compote, wet baking spice, molasses cookie, medium tannins with intense finish, can hold easily another +10Y in proper storage. Amazing bottle. — 7 days ago
Very full bodied and rich. Best with rich food, not drinking alone. Delicious spicy notes! Little bit more tannins than expected. — 2 days ago
2019 version. Lovely gavi, nice and mineral and not too fruity. Eminently quaffable. — 4 days ago
Honey, orange blossom, coriander, and lime. Sweet on the nose, but balanced on the palate. Low acid. — 10 days ago
Fragrant floral and bread nose. Pineapple and stone on the palate. Herbal notes. Nice complexity. — 5 days ago
Grown up subtle Lambrusco. Not too sweet, rich purple color, rounded notes. Very drinkable. — 11 days ago
Exuberant nose. Cherries. Chestnut. Gamey. Mega spice. Wild. Untamed. Classic Ghemme. Floral. Can tell it’s from a warm vintage. But in a good way. Warm vintage, cooler region. Palate is juicy and ripe with those rustic, deep Ghemme tannins. Good concentration. Nice depth. Not much finesse so far. But intense flavor and length. Rustic for sure. Not showing as well as last bottle. I’ll be back. — 25 days ago
