The Russian River Valley has always been a favorite of mine and their pinot noir's have a soft place in my heart. The wine I have opened tonight is the 2018 Gary Farrell Russian River Valley Russian River Selection Pinot Noir.
On the nose there is wonderful notes of strawberry, cherry, cranberry, herbal notes, clove, vanilla, floral notes, some funk and dusty soil.
On the palate is very expressive red fruit, strawberry, cherry, cranberry, clove, nice herbal notes, hibiscus and dry soil.
This wine is medium bodied with clean fresh fruit mouthfeel, medium to medium+ acidity and very nice medium + soft fine tannins with a long juicy red fruit finish. This is a wonderful pinot noir and if you enjoy pinot noir this is one to have. The weekend has come upon us again and the weather here has finally opened up and looks like the 4th of July weekend is going to be a good one. Please stay safe and healthy and enjoy your holiday. This shiraz ticks all my boxes, bold, intense fruits without acidity or long aftertaste. It's uncomplicated and a wine for all seasons. — 2 months ago

WNH virtual tasting with Gary Farrell wines. 2015 Ritchie chard, 2014 Fort Ross Pinot and 2015 Rochioli Pinot were the library choices.
I’m between a 93 and 94 here. This caught me totally by surprise. Flexing an ABV of 13.7, it has so much balanced richness and never comes across as lean. In fact, with the whole cluster usage here, it’s not green/stemmy. Gorgeous translucent purple in the glass with big aromatics of juniper, sage, high toned red and black berries, and cedar. Nimble on the palate with some herbal notes, and a really pretty red/black fruit sweetness (like really ripe rhubarb mixed with blackberries). Has both nice acidity and some tannic bite. I’d argue this was possibly even better in day two. Beautiful wine. — 2 months ago
