Not sure if it was the birth of our son or this bottle, but this was smoking good with deeper complexity than LBT of 167 ème. Classic Krug balance of rich and oxidative character with bright acidity and some reductive elements. Seems to display all at once beautifully. — 16 days ago
Superb! Smashing bottle of Cristal. Rich with incredible tension and purity, embodies class and elegance. Leads with a gorgeous mixture of fruit and autolytic notes; fresh baked brioche, tangerine marmalade, lemon and orange curd, nougat, spun sugar, toasted hazelnuts, red currants, spring honey, fine layer of fragrant exotic fruit pineapple or quince. Beneath the complexity really gains with the chalky tones really driving the nose and plate. Crushed and damp chalk, struck stones, the slightest edge of sweet herbs and smoke. The subtle spice and floral elements add dimension. Structurally I fine it hard to describe because the acidity has so much momentum but there is sufficient impact and depth to suggest that it is a rich wine. Overall it is supremely elegant and still holding onto its coiled and youthful state. Great potential but the pedigree is there to admire now. — 14 days ago
Down goes another Sunday,
special release to honor the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Ardbeg Committee, which is one of more than 140 on the island of Islay but has a global membership of more than 120,000. Distiller notes: "For the first time in Ardbeg’s history, we rounded up Pinot Noir casks from the country that lies the furthest distance from Islay – New Zealand, that other remote island nation where sheep have been known to outnumber the locals by 7:1. Ardbeg Blaaack knits together velvety summer fruit pudding and bitter cherry, with a deeper edge of soot and Ardbeg’s hallmark smoke. Perfect for toasting our legendary committee." — a month ago
2010 is this mislabeled ? This is zero star. Does not Taste like that.
This is sick off the bat.
Nose is elegant peach and peach flower. Crazy density. Some aged Riesling. Complex ... but I’m so blown away I can’t focus on detailing every little thing.
Palate is concentrated perfectly ripe peach. Crunchy confectionary elements. Juicy. Crazy fresh. It has the concentration of baked peaches but the freshness and clarity of perfect fresh ones.
Epic levels of almost tart acidity. Wow.
Whatever I bought it was a massive under buy.

👁 Nice clarity, medium ruby hue, pink rim variation, strong tearing. No sediment.
👃 Nose is clean and offers medium intensity red fruit notes that are ripe and jammy, such as cherry, strawberry-rhubarb, plum, along with spicy notes, such as dark baking spices, vanilla, and some green, herbaceous elements. Aromas are developing.
👄 palate is dry, medium acidity, medium+ tannins, high alcohol, medium+ body, with medium red fruit and baking spice notes, which are consistent with the nose. Medium+ finish with lingering flavors and warmth.
Love this producer - Grgich Hills Estate, Napa Valley, Zinfandel. Especially love the Chardonnays, but this was a balanced Zinfandel from Napa. Co-founder of this estate (Miljenko “Mike” Grgich) also crafted the ‘73 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the 1976 Judgement of Paris. Vintage 2015. ABV 14.9%. Made with organic grapes 🍇 Enjoying it as a complement to brats and Brussels sprouts on the grill. — 12 hours ago
Best bottle I’ve had yet of this. I think that wee bit of Cabernet provides some cassis and dark cherry fruit that balances the ashy, mineral-savory elements of Rocks District Syrah. On the palate it’s fairly subtle and has a very silky texture, unlike the more tacky feel of a lot of Rocks Syrah (which I like, to be sure). — 15 days ago
Superb balance of savory, floral and fruity elements, acid and texture! Hitting all those notes. Nose has a hint of petrol and floral character and then the palate is major fruit; yellow raspberries, gooseberry, apple, jasmine, clover honey, hay, custard. Brisk fruit snaps into savory acid and a long finish. And the texture is silky; more weight than many a Mosel Riesling in this price range. So good! — 12 days ago
