Wonderful. Classic Bordeaux. A little green pepper and cigar box.

A nice Bordeaux and a bunch of mesquite-grilled lamb chops. This Cantemerle is quite dense and youthful. Color shows almost no sign of age. With air, nose slowly unfurls to show lots of graphite, menthol, tight cassis fruit, underbrush, and crushed rock. Medium bodied, the flavors are tight too, and there is nice concentration, but it’s mostly promise for the future. Tannins are nicely managed and there is good acidity. 9.2+

Cantemerle is one of my favorite bargain Chateaus. Medium weight, woodsie (but not oaky), a little cocoa… good potential but doesn’t fully come together because of a diluted watery streak. Had the 2010 not long ago which was better.

Young but definitely promising. Mostly primary with plenty of juiciness.

Blind tasting night - Considered Bordeaux Varietals due to the Pyrazines, and I should have gone old world due to the tart fruit on the pallet.. however it was ripe, and I went Margaret River, Australia.. should have went with my gut. But, it was midnight so I'll blame it on fatigue, ha. 🙃

Great wine from a great vintage - fun fact: this estate is the only other estate to be edited into the 1855 Classification a year later, as a 5th growth, literally hand written into the list.

Nothing exciting on opening or four hours later. Other than a slight tartness at the finish it was bland and one dimensional.

2015 is reporting for duty. Balanced with brighter fruit and acid with cassis, plums and pencil elements. One could drink this with a variety of meats, fowl and fish. This wine is locked and loaded and ready to fire.
