Il Palazzone

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Tasted alongside the 2015 vintage. Both wines were opened about eight hours in advanced and allowed to slow-ox at cellar temp (51°F). Comparatively, this was more open for business. Dark cherry, gym sock, dried herbs, leather, and tomato leaf on the nose. On the palate, dusty cherry fruit with black tea and dried herbs. Rustic. Quite an old school charmer! Towards the end of the bottle, this started to tighten back up a bit but it was still my favorite of the two vintages tonight. I expect this to enjoy a long life. — 3 years ago

Frog's Leap

Rutherford Merlot 2019

We adored this wine. Lively and tense eight acidity depth and a peppery verve, it was amazing with a steakhouse dinner, but equally wonderful the second night with salad, cheese and a hearty bread. — 4 months ago

Peter Lehmann

Eight Songs Shiraz 2018

This was 1 of 41 wines we tasted blind to pick the next Members Premium Red at the Downs Club. Brief notes. A youthful Ruby with a purple tinge. Black ripe fruits and dark chocolate from the brilliant 2018 vintage. Charred oak. A typical Peter Lehmann Shiraz and most enjoyable. — a year ago

Cantina di Soave

Cadis Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2015

Once again I indulge in this pretty sin... Cherry, almond, Raisin, pencil lead, maybe chocolate too? The palate is tremendous : it goes in every direction with a huge acid backbone, a superlative width, a dense and silky matter with a soft touch on the sides, a bright fruit which shows off all along, a bit of drying tannins that kick off a fantastic finish with fruit, a bit of bitterness, some raisins and a indisputable length. Man I love this one. This is bohemian rhapsody by Queen — 4 years ago

It is fine to read your experience with this wine 😏 it did not deliver to me, but Amarone is not a style I like...

Vineyard 7 & 8 (Seven and Eight)

7 Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

2003 vintage tasted in Aug 2023. This wine was so incredibly enjoyable. Fruit still so ripe - black, red, and blue. Incredible soft dusty tannins have a great mouthfeel. Graphite, lead shaving, crushed rock. So we’ll integrated. Finish of 45s+. Loved it! — 8 months ago

Vineyard 7 & 8 (Seven and Eight)

Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Medium ruby with a nose of black cherries, anise, wet gravel, mocha, pipe tobacco, and toffee. Full-bodied with smooth velvety tannins. I think this wine is in its prime. I love the bold, full mouthfeel on this wine. Nice, smooth finish. Birthday wine! — 3 years ago

Château Poujeaux

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Black currant, tar, pencil lead, cedar... A very fragrant a'f concentrated nose. The palate is well balanced with a strong acid backbone, a nice fruit with a pleasant tanguiness, a nice silky, sweet touch on the sides, rolling tannins with a grain and a long finish with a touch of wood, a pinch of salt, a touch of bitterness and black fruits. This is very good — 4 years ago
