Dun Zin

Pasqua

Edizione Speciale di Pasqua Desire Lush & Zin Primitivo 2020

A full-bodied, fruity wine that is ruby red in colour. It was very smooth to drink and left a nice aftertaste on the palate. We paired this with a ribeye steak. — 11 days ago

Unti Vineyards

Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2018

Wasn’t going to leave the Dry Creek Valley without trying some Zin, and Unti always makes one of my favorites. Primitovo clone (naturally), with a little Barbera (for lift) and Petit Sirah (for tone). Lol it sounds like I’m talking about a girdle… — 12 days ago

Icon Native Sonoma Mixed Blacks Red Blend 2016

OG California Field Blend Goodness… inky black with waves of Ripe blackberry bramble, cherry, and a touch of smoke. I fell in love with these hyperbolic field blends 30 years ago. Rice, ripe, smooth, with s hint of green stem and leafy forest flooor. I forgot just how these wines scratch my zin/oak/mid-weight itch. I am making my response to find more… — 13 days ago

Nice bold and fruity old vine Zinfandel - exactly what I wanted from a trusted central California winery. (Paired well with spicy nachos.) — a month ago

Ridge Vineyards

Geyserville Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend 2015

Medium ruby hue. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, bramble, dried fruit, and pepper. Medium-plus body, with medium tannins and medium acidity. Elegant and lighter in character than other California Zinfandels (or Zin blends). 70% Zinfandel, 15% Carignan, 12% Petite Sirah, and 3% Alicante Bouschet. — 3 days ago

This Zin continues to impress me. Plum, blueberry, fig, black pepper, espresso, and light tobacco. Juicy and smooth on the palate. Round acidity and tannins. Lingering candied and smoky finish.
Paring with burger is as good as it gets. Fantastic value for a single vineyard bottling from St. Helena.

Guadagni Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2019

Popped too young, but I just wanted to open it, dammit. Classic fairly old-school Zin nose, with brambly blackberry, a bit of American oak, and stony gravel. Fairly tight in the mouth. I love the focused fruit, which is not jammy in the least. It’s very dry (which is almost jarring these days of jammy Zins with residual sugar), and it’s got some youthfully drying tannins. Needs, and will be better in, at least 2-3 years, but enjoyable now. — 10 days ago
