Aromas of red ripe fruits and sweet spice. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors, very jammy. Overly acidic, strong pepper notes, smoky oak finishing with harsh medium tannins. Screams for food. Pass on this big box store wine. Tasting Sample.

Jammy with some smoke. Easy drinking if you like a full body red, but would also be awesome with food.

This wine suffers from identity crisis. Starts out jammy with bright red fruits, then transitions to a smooth sweet vanilla, and finishes with a peppery spice. Nice velvety texture, worth $10-12 not much more. v2016

Nose: Strawberry hard candy, blueberry, sweet pipe tobacco, black licorice

Palate: Less complex upon taste. Full and round while not overtly tannic, lots of ripe fruit, dark berries, nice moderate touch of acid balancing out its jammy characteristics.

It was rated #1 Zinfandel at Total Wine and they weren’t kidding. The best Zinfandel I have ever tried.
