Long Shadows Vintners Collection

Feather Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

This is showing beautifully young. The nose is savory with a leather and tobacco quality with some dark berry aromatics. The palate is powerful red currant and plum notes enhanced with a pronounced grip and lengthy finish. One of the best Cabernet examples in Washington. @Delectable Wine this is certainly not from Lodi. It has four entries which should probably be combined. — 10 days ago

A Best Buy imho

Dogtown Vineyard Zinfandel 2001

2001 Turley Dogtown. Nose of black pepper wafts followed by plums and a patient zin alcohol. Plum red with orangish edges due to age on the color. Plums, cherries, and berries coat the tongue followed by red pepper flakes, tannins, orange peel, and spice. A lighter side full bodied wine with a blackberry juice weight. The finish slides across the palate with tartness coating the teeth and dancing alcohol on the finish. It’s a delicate 19 year old zinfandel with some kick. Well done. Solid 92-93. Ravenswood Winery

Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel 2017

Um erg Ravenswood...I always am just waiting for disappointment. And I’m always so keen on this wine. RIPE! Fun. There is acid balance and it isn’t...fresh but not in an icky way. It is...what I feel excited about when I think Lodi Zin ❤️ — 6 days ago

American Vintners

Barrel Heist Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Color of decent ruby, quite clear. Nose of youth, sour cherry, some berries, barrel chips or cedar, spice, medicinal syrup, more fire wood note, and strength of alcohol. Taste follows the nose, oaky comes first, tannins second, subtle refined sweetness from fruits comes last. Aftertaste is pretty decent with more firewood note. Pretty good. — 19 days ago

Four Virtus

Bourbon Barrel Aged Lodi Zinfandel 2017

Raisin, vanilla, nose with light fruit in the middle. Some smokiness. Nice on the tongue. Not as thick and complex as a cab, but really really good. Blueberry, cherry notes. It’s thickness is between a cab and merlot. Like this one. — 18 hours ago

Freakshow Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Trying out my new Zalto Bordeaux glasses with Cali cab. This wine is easy peasy. It will not challenge you but sometimes that’s okay. Very ripe tannins and purpley fruit and there is a whiff of pepper to give a little edge. I have a feeling this may be a highly engineered act but I guess that’s why it’s a Freakshow. — 11 days ago

The blend Freakshow is better than the Cabernet Freakshow, so at least you picked the right one. The Freakshow Zin isn’t bad either.
The Earthquake series is a step up though for only a few dollars more

@Paul T- Huntington Beach haven’t tried the other ones! But perhaps I shall...

Capital Zinfandel 2018

I didn’t have high expectations for this value #lodi #zinfandel. Blackberry jam aromas dominate. In the mouth there’s the expected rich briar fruit flood but it’s quickly followed by nice acid structure, dark chocolate and coffee notes mid-palate, faint warming spices and tongue-coating tannins on the long finish. It is unexpectedly quaffable and a dandy value at $11 from #wsjwineclub — 4 days ago

Scotto Cellars

Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel 2015

Dark ruby hue with high saturation. Aromas and flavors of baking spice, blackberry, mint, oak, plum, and strawberry jam. Medium-full body, medium-soft tannins, and medium-low acidity. Jammy, concentrated, and flavorful, with a hint of pepper on the finish. Drinkable on its own (without decanting) or with grilled meats. — 6 days ago
