Color of dark purple, ruby, and a bit brown note on the rim. Nose of dark fruits, tobacco leaves, spice, and indeed some strawberry. Taste is sweet! Zest, cherry, , spice, marginal tannins come next. Quite milky. Aftertaste is also a bit spicy, tobacco leaves, and just a bit too watery. Too sweet for me but may be a good one in the party. — 5 days ago
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a great Cabernet Franc from Lodi.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Very fruity on the nose with blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, raisins, spices, dried figs, tobacco, chocolates, mocha, coffee, peppercorn, earth, leather and coke.
Full bodied, elegant and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cherries, wood, cloves, light vegetables, pencil lead, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, leather, earth, light bell pepper and peppercorn.
Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a big and chewy Cabernet Franc from California. Well balanced and fruit forward, with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (1 hour).
Good by itself as a sipping wine, by the porch, or with a big piece of steak. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.
A great example of how I like my Cabernet Franc. Yummy, rich and delicious.
15.5% alcohol by volume.

Color of deep purple. Nose and f cocoa, chocolate, dark fruits, raisin, powerful tobacco leaves, and a bit rose note. Nose is plenty and powerful. Taste of dark cherry, sweet grapes, a bit too watery considering the note is powerful, mellow tannins, medicinal note, tobacco leaves, and a bit spice. Aftertaste is some more medicinal note, a bittersweet, and a bit cranberry. Above average. — 9 days ago
This fresh wine is inspiring. Taking a non-noble grape, keeping the alcohol below California norms, 13.6%, this boutique producer makes a wine that exceeds the sum of its individual components. Won’t win a blind tasting contest as it’s not “big” enough. I’d recommend this to anyone. Wonderful wine. — 16 days ago
Very rare to find a single variety Tannat. This is an impressive wine. Lots of structure. At Family Winemakers of California Tasting in Del Mar. — 2 days ago
This Chardonnay carries a pale, golden hue, but struts in with a big, oaky nose, butter and butterscotch layering over the tropical fruit. The palate is just as bold, with oak spice leading the way here, too. The mouthfeel is full, but the acidity is sharp as a tack. Oak lingers on the finish, so be prepared for a wooden extravaganza. — 14 days ago
Rich berry fruitiness, slightly spicy and chewy.
Works well with pâté and eminently quaffable on its own. — 4 days ago
