Two Shepherds

Bechthold Vineyard Cinsault 2020

@Delectable Wine oddly enough this is a Blanc de Cinsault, one of the silver linings of 2020.

When the fires hit early in harvest 2020, Will and Karen hedged their bets by pressing some of the 100+ year old vine Cinsault from the legendary Bechtold Vineyard immediately, and the result is a joy: pear, pomello, white grapefruit, some pith and white pepper on the finish. Fragrant and light.

In good news, the regular Cinsault from the vintage also turned out beautifully and isn’t showing a trace of smoke taint—or at least when I tried it a few months back.

Lodi Petit Verdot vs. Petite Sirah

Color of dark purple, almost inky. Nose of milky vanilla, black sweet cherry, and some ripe berries. Taste follows the nose with addition of nice acidity and good tannins. Some more zesty and milky notes on the 2nd sip. Smooth and silky. Crowd pleaser. — 17 days ago

Sandlands

Lodi Cinsault 2020

Popped and poured, the 2020 Cinsault pours a bright ruby with a transparent core; slight staining of the tears. Medium viscosity. Redolent of red and purple flowers, strawberry, orange, coffee, dried herbs, spices. It’s dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. The finish is savory. Fresh. Juicy. Awesome. This is what Sandlands is all about. — 10 days ago

Dark purple. Chocolate and cassis. I just googled and learned that hieroglyph and hierogram have different meaning. Learning from wine labels! 😊 — 5 days ago

Pale red color. Sweet spice aromas. Perhaps a bit too much oak for the lightness of the wine. Alcohol also seemed a little out of balance, but still a very enjoyable and fine #Garnacha #lodi — 3 days ago

Turley

Bechtoldt Vineyard Cinsault 2021

I just fell in love with this perfect summer food red. Raspberry on the nose, sour cherry and plenty of aromatic florals. Do Decant! I didn’t and the best sip i had was the last, pored from the bottle 2.5 hours later. — 9 days ago

Hook or Crook Cellars

Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Ruby in color with medium intensity and a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, black cherries, sweet raspberries, light wood, spices and dark chocolates.

Medium bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, oak, licorice, chocolates, light tobacco, herbs, spices, earth and peppercorn.

Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice everyday Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, California.

Easy drinking and good for parties.

Good by itself or with food and good right out of the bottle.

I paired it with grilled lamb chops.

Aged in oak barrels for 14 months.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$12.
