Bought a case of these on release for like (I think) $80 a bottle or so, opened a couple a few years later and was disappointed. I was told, “just wait.” And holy sh*t! Was that good advice. This blew my mind. If all Sauv Blancs/ sancerres tasted like this I’d have a new vice. Minerality out the wazoo, with perfectly balanced peach, grapefruit rind & melon notes…never cloying. Crisp, harmonious., unctuous. Downright delicious. Now I understand the current crazy prices. A one of a kind wine!

And the winner of December 8 2018 wet lunch session...ah pure gold Vatan. The pregame Negroni was pretty good too though.

@Dan Petroski this was on the Pork Chop wine pairing podium but maybe not as sensational as the Monprivato.

Amazing Sancerre, this is a wine that needs a minimum of 5 - 10 yrs. Intense stony mineral goodness with gripping acidity.

Wonderful pairing with foie gras. Acid shows well. Lemon. Stone. This wine wants to age
