Blackduck Cidery

Dry Perry 2019

One of the best. Sidra-style perry made in NY, but not faddish at all. John Reynolds, one of my favorite iconoclastic wine/cider-makers, has been doing it this way for decades. Micro production. Loads of VA but flat out delicious; vibrant, textured, rich and soulful. Do yourself a favor and find some of this if you like natural wine. I’d argue this kills almost any high-VA natural wine. Why? There’s a historical precedent for the style, the flavor profile makes sense, it’s clean and well-made. Great stuff. — 2 days ago

Asahi

Super Dry Draft Beer

Hate to admit it, but this was so good. There's a running joke where I used to work - only the Asian's know that proper beer should taste like... Nothing. Can't be truer here. Ice cold, crisp, and light-tasting, this can was perfect after a long work day and intense leg session. So much for post workout recovery, but it sure as heck hit a spot. "The beer for all seasons" indeed. Well-played, Asahi 👏 Well-played. — 19 days ago

Ridge Vineyards

East Bench Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2013

Loaded brambly fruit overwhelmed our braised short rib. Reserve for grilled meats or cream sauces. Still, a fruit bomb I can get behind. — 21 hours ago

Dark ruby and bold mouth feel. Too big for our braised short ribs, but decently structured for the truffle Mac & cheese. Ridge never disappoints. We will just need to pair it better next time.

Mazzocco

Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

A serious gripper, this wine is high on the tannin scale. I had the 2018 and it seems like it might need another couple of years to mellow out. However, I do love these dry, “gripping” wines, so this in getting a 9 from me. — 16 hours ago

To much FOMO from looking at @Paul T- Huntington Beach ‘s Korean short rib posts so had to order my own. To young, but the wine will be an absolute rockstar in a few years. — 16 days ago
