Cru Bourgeois Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

2012 vintage. This estate is owned by Jean Guyon, the biggest owner of vineyards in the Médoc appellation. Mainly Merlot (70%), with equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A rather difficult vintage, but in general merlot fared better than Cabernets. Attractive nose, almost New World in style, with amarena cherries and vanilla. Round and ripe, but with good acidity. Gentle tannins and good length. Obvious oak influence but not drying. Drinking perfectly now and well worth the 18 euro price tag for a mature Bordeaux. — a year ago
