Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2006

The wine is young. Very young. Was slow oxed for four hours but never really blossomed over the next four. The quality of the wine is good perhaps great but will only be strutting it’s stuff in another ten years or so. — 13 days ago

Laforet Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2019

— 12 days ago

Les Petits Monts Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Opened at 3pm, capped until 8pm. What was tightly wound upon original taste, unfurled beautifully to show explosive aromatics of intense high toned red fruit, exotic spices, fresh violets and just a touch of woodsmoke that’s followed by a cool mineral infusion with fine grained tannins.

The wine shows such class, focus and vibrancy, and I love the elegance of the vintage in combination with the vineyard. Takes it to another level, and it’s only going to get better. I’m definitely a big fan of Petits Monts. Along with Malconsorts, it’s hard to contest that there’s no better premier cru in Vosne Romanée than those two, located spitting distance from Richebourg and La Tâche, respectively.

Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2002

Nose has dried cranberry, ripe cherry, red currant jelly, dried roses and old oak bark

Palate has dried tart cherry, dried cranberries, chalk dust, over-ripe strawberry with medium, but fine tannins. Doing quite well tonight; Slow oxidation for 2H then decanted 3H.

Pre-birthday dinner for our dear COVID bubble friend; we've only allowed one of our close friends into the house for almost the past year, tonight we're celebrating that he's one year older than me. 😉

Les Baudes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

A last minute PnP. I have not opened many ‘05’s given my experience early on. You could tell there was great material but they were not providing drinking pleasure. A nose of black cherry with some spice hits your nose immediately. In the mouth a silky combo of of black and red fruit, spice and smooth but present tannins. Upside with time, for now I will stick to opening my ‘05 Village wines . — 23 days ago

It’s odd you are right about the 05‘ a super hyped vintage but I am not sure if will turn out really that great in years to come.

@Pinotman /// Andreas I believe they are very good . By no means am I disappointed, I just find they really need time. I am sure there will some “sure things” that turnout to be average. Overall I have been pleased. Have you been disappointed with the wines you have tasted? Remember we are talking about red burgundy, disappointment is a given 😩
