Asili Di Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2005

From magnum . Ruby centre with garnet rim . Elegant with roses and medicinal notes , pine resin, dried spices . Spiced red cherry , quite high refreshing acidity . Quite mineral also , sweet refined tannin, long and ripe finish . This is still quite young , elegant and feminine . This is nice now with time in the glass , and will improve over the next 5 , last a further 5-10 . — 2 months ago

Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2007

Popped and poured, no formal notes. This bottle of 2007 Giacosa Barolo Falletto Serralunga d’Alba was served alongside a number of absolute bangers and was probably my wine of the night. I would describe it as vinous now and it has so much personality. Unmistakably Serralunga: gorgeously perfumed, beautifully dark fruited and fabulously structured. This is the third 2007 I’ve had from multiple producers in the last 18 months and I gotta say, I think the 2007 Barolo vintage is in a really great spot right now. Definitely a vintage I’ve slept on. For this particular bottle, drink now though I expect it will live through 2037. — 4 months ago

Santo Stefano Di Neive Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2005

Absolutely gorgeous tonight, with red label stardom, continuing to get better and better in the decanter wafting waves of roses, black cherries, exotic spices and tea leaves. It has immense richness but also so fresh and detailed. There is incredible density yet without weight. An amazing combination of power and elegance. — a month ago

Vieilles Vignes La Combe d'Orveaux Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

I reckon BH’s notes on this are pretty spot on for my experience (expect the part on the Noirots), so here it is:

“Once again, there is a subtle though not invisible application of wood that still easily allows the airy, cool and restrained aromas of various red berries, and in particular cherry, floral and a mildly exotic whiff of dried orange peel. The energetic and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors are much finer if less powerful than those of the Noirots while display notably more minerality as well on the compact, serious and built-to-age finale. This is a wine of finesse and refinement but the flavor authority is impressive as is the tannic spine.”

WOTN for most I believe. Showed well with air, but clearly some tightness at the start. Loved the energy here. Very promising!

Excellent bottle though noticeably shy of the riserva he makes. In a great place in terms of age. — 4 months ago

N.P.U. "Nec Plus Ultra" Brut Champagne Blend 2008

A bit restrained yet nuanced bouquet of pear, bread, cinnamon, dried fruit, white flowers and green hazelnut. Medium-bodied, it's sharp and focused with racy acidity and chalk minerality. Mind-blowing flavours of fermented rice. Overall, demanding style. Even today, it feels too young. A meditative wine for hikikomori.
