Cuvée Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2011

Dark rubi robe, dark cherries, chocolate, top soil and spices with a hint of crushed flowers on the nose. On the mouth its dense and rich but elegant with round tannins and great acidity. This is top notch Gevrey and we got from Magnum. Highly recommended, singing now but no rush. — a month ago

Domaine Grand Veneur Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2007

Big wine, high on extract, sweetness and alcohol. Yet, its pure crunchy fruit, great acidic freshness and hearty, savory complexity provide an overall sense of harmony and balance.
Great example of a modern Southern Rhone. Yum.

Les Suchots Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Classic vosne nose. Light and stunning nose- roses, soft cherry. Light bodied but very pretty. Precise and detailed. You need to leave in to notice but delicate and pretty. — a month ago

Les Vieilles Vignes Cornas Syrah 2015

Still pretty youthful with some tannin structure showing on the palate. Would give this more time to settle. — 2 months ago

Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2019

Blackberry, black pepper, meat juice... This is textbook Syrah from Northern Rhône. The palate is a model of balance. Sheer acid and great matter. Good width and a lively mouthfeel. Pointy tannins a bit of a grain in mid palate. Very long finish with blackberry and those meat juice notes that are consistent with the nose. This is probably much too early to open it and I think it'd be better with food, but this is one of the best crozes I've had so far along with some cuvées from Combier. Great stuff! — 6 days ago

Celle ci, ainsi que la plupart des bouteilles que je poste ces derniers temps viennent d'une commande auprès de mon caviste en ligne préféré du temps où j'étais encore en France. Ça fait plaisir !

Lovely. A little funk and a little smoked meat but not too in your face. — 19 days ago

Saint-Romain Chardonnay 2020

Chardonnay from different parcels around Saint Romain, a relatively unknown appellation not far from Meursault, but at a fraction of the price. Vinified in tank and oak. Pale golden color. Aromas of pear, vanilla, some oaky notes. Medium to full-bodied. Quite rich and round. Citrus and minerals on the palate. Tasty, nice saline finish — 2 months ago

Rather a posh name! Long name when you see it written. Cheers!

Les Chailles Cornas Syrah 2015

Poured into a ship’s decanter about an hour before service. The 2015 “Les Chailles” pours a ruby color with a translucent core; moderate staining. On the nose, powerful intensity with developing red fruits, brambles, pomegranate, black fruits, orange zest, purple flowers and just a whiff of leather. Shaquille O’Neal is also there… as this wine is not “faking the funk on a nasty dunk”. Translation: this does have a feral quality to it but it’s just wonderful. On the palate, it’s bone dry, with medium+ tannin and acid. Medium alcohol. Long. Ass. Finish. Overall, you just want to drink this wine as there is just so much to like. That being said, this is still quite the baby…even if this is considered Voge’s “generic” Cornas. Drink now with some extended air (in hindsight, I would have audouzed the night before) but probably better after 2025. Easily has the stuffing to be enjoyable past 2030. NOTE: I left about one glass in the bottle and came back to it two nights later and it was still outstanding with only slight evolution. I suspect the aging potential of these wines is well beyond what is advertised. — a month ago
