So good I had to have two! A gorgeous wine, and surely what anyone could hope to find in good value BDX. Rich, gentle and somewhat smokey nose. Quite dark fruited, with blackberry, bramble and singed tobacco leaf. This is a great example of right bank Bordeaux, with supple, enveloping fruit and chalky tannins, and characteristic aromas. 100% merlot. Though only four years of age, I have to say this drinks very well now. It probably doesn’t have the stuffing to age decades, so I’d drink between now and the next ten years. Still, acidity very high and finishes long. Excellent quality and very good value. — a month ago
Nice open knit wine, gorgeous fruit, freshness, structure and great balance, delicious finish.
Vin ouvert, beau fruit rouge, frais avec une belle structure assez fidèle à un MSD mais un équilibre exemplaire. Belle finale délicieuse, bien aimé et a excédé mes attentes. 89-90 — 16 days ago
Dark fruit, coca-cola et terreux, medium to strong bodied, nice balance and a finish a tad rustic and showing the appellation.
Fruits noirs, coca-cola et terreux, corps moyen plus, assez bel équilibre avec une finale puissante et très légèrement rustique. Un vin un peu jeune. — 10 days ago
pop and pour. No sediment. Filled almost to the cork. Bought on release. Unbelievably good. Dense in color belying its age, a powerful bouquet of fruit, chocolate, a little licorice, very dark blue fruit, all following through on the palate. Very thick but soft, great intensity and obviously low yield old vines, endless finish. Damn good. — 16 days ago
What is it that makes all of Ponsot’s Grand Crus in 2007 so great despite this not being such a great year? This is no exception, a meaty saline effort, pure masculine Pinot. Color is relatively evolved but the wine is vibrant with a good ten to fifteen years of life left. — 8 days ago
Last bottle of this that we had was about 2 years ago. I think we may have 1-2 left. Definitely no need to wait more, this is in a prime spot. Absolutely beautiful aromatics. So pure and mouth filling and just the hint of secondary fruit starting to poke through. Extremely balanced with beautiful refreshing acid on the finish. Finish itself goes on for quite a while. Excellent pairing with a buttermilk brined roast chicken. What a treat. — 16 days ago
