American geography ignoramus that I am, little did I know that the Northernmost tip of the Rhone- Cote Rotie- is the kissing cousin of Beaujolais. St. Amour is more midpoint, but has that great granite terroir which makes this long standing Cru Bojo (& under 20$) a perennial fave. It’s that mineral tautness I love. — 3 hours ago
An old friend, whom I am ecstatic to find again. Basically a Burgundy estate that was exiled from Chablis & is part of Côte d’Auxerre. Concentrated green fruits, lithe, delicate & powerful all at once. The balance is remarkable-I can’t imagine a better QPR. Polaner importer. — 11 days ago
Located to the east of the village of Saint-Émilion, on one of the high points of the appellation and it extends over 20 hectares. Ch was promoted to "Saint-Emilion Grand cru classé" in 2006. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark Ruby with ripe fruit aromas & herb notes. On the palate black cherry & raspberry, currant-like, with tobacco & cacao notes. Dusty fine tannins, long finish ending with earthy mineral tones, drinking fine now! — 7 days ago
Fyllig med bra sprakande mousse. Fruktig med bra uppbackning av brioche, snäckskal och torra söta kryddor. — 20 days ago
Deep nose of ripe plum, cassis, blackberry, cedar, dark roasted coffee beans, herbal spices, hint of cigar box and violet. Warm and soft lightly extracted dark fruits lead the initial attack. Dense yet smooth with impeccable balance. Full of energy. Firm polished tannins. The pairing of 14 days dry age Rohan duck was magnificent.
Immensely powerful with old world charm and grace, this 10’ Saint Julian earns a perfect score from WE, and I think it’s deservedly so. — 3 days ago
