Sadie Family

Kokerboom Sémillon 2019

Semillon from the interior of South Africa from Eben Sadie, one of the best whites from SA that I have ever had. Tons of acidity and freshness, lots of density but light on its feet. Pretty tightly wound, try this in a few years…3-5 from vintage date should be ideal. — 2 days ago

Zorgvliet

Richelle Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

Heavy and broad-shouldered in bottle, with a wax seal to boot, the 2016 Zorgvliet Richelle conforms to the stereotype of an expressive, extracted wine but does so in a commendable manner. Too young now, the oak needs another five years at least to integrate but the aromas of cassis, graphite and rich chocolate show promise. The palate is incredibly rich, and though it’s quite unapproachable now I’d love to try it in five to ten years’ time. — 7 days ago

Raats

Family Stellenbosch Cabernet Franc 2014

Really great cab franc representation with the classic green pepper and vegetal notes with some good spiciness on the back palette. A tad astringent but age will mellow that out. — 4 days ago

Natte Valleij Cinsault 2018

I'm really glad I bought this bottle as I haven't have this as a single varietal before. Really light garnet color here that I found intriguing. A red fruit and funk nose. On the palate, the red fruit is lovely, but this is also smoky and bacony. A great white pepper finish as well... I love this! — 7 days ago

Glenelly Estate

Estate Reserve Stellenbosch Red Blend 2013

Love this red blend. Read some of the other reviews to learn about the nose and taste of this wine. I get wet forest and a little wood fire or fire pit on the nose. But it’s awesome. Go buy some. — 2 days ago

Vincent et Tania Carême

Terre Brulee Swartland Chenin Blanc 2019

Hits all the boxes for chenin. Citrus, floral notes, lanolin/beeswax and nice textural weight with lively acidity. Seems like the producer understands the grape from the Loire so well that they are making magic in South Africa! — 6 days ago

Keermont

Terrasse White Blend 2018

Really luscious texture, vanilla, butterscotch, citrus, some salt, and spice on the finish, lively acidity. Intriguing and refreshing. The oak and lees are both present, but elegant. — 2 days ago

De Wetshof

Lesca Chardonnay 2020

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2020 Chardonnay Lesca from De Wetshof Estate has a straightforward orchard fruit nose that just needs a little more complexity. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with greater depth on the finish that expected. Enjoy this over the next 3-4 years. $25.00 (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2021) — 19 days ago

Cavalli Cellar

Cheval d'Or Warlord Red Blend 2018

A hot, but balanced blend. Oil and leather in the nose. Dark fruits, prunes, blackberry, leather in the mouth. — 16 days ago

Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Orginator g from the cool maritime climate aligned to the elegance and fine fruit concentration, grown on the mountainous slopes of Constantia with a beautiful view over false bay. This wine is balanced and delivers freshness throughout. — 9 days ago
