The first time I tasted this I wasn’t too impressed. I was expecting a ripe #cabernetfranc from California in my mind. I just tasted it blind among other #cabernetblends and it was one of the best. Deep ruby color with pronounced aromas of black fruit with savoury meaty (Bolognesa, Beef Bourginon) flavors. High fine grained tannins. #southafrica #stellenbosch — 10 days ago
Opened up after an hour or so, and improved over evening, nice red berry fruit and raspberry flavours with silky tannins some spice with nice length and aftertaste — 4 days ago
Nailed it with Afghan Lamb Kebabs. Out of the gate it’s bright with a Bordeaux character... then turns slightly underripe vegetal... by hour 4 this all smooths out. It was fun tasting it’s evolution for 6+ hours. Great wine, and recommend with hearty food. — 24 days ago
Lots of honeysuckle. Grapefruit, strawberry. Apricot chutney. Hint of baked vanilla. A little hot. Interesting, charming. Medium plus body. (Blend is: chenin blanc, rousanne, Grenache blanc, verdelho, viognier, Grenache Gris, Grenache, Clairette Blanche) — 9 days ago
Wow! Brought this back from South Africa in 1997 b/c of label. Did not store properly. Wine is absolutely delicious. Apricots, cherry, toffee and chocolate. Color has deepened to a more amber color from original straw. — 10 days ago
A pleasant, sweeter nose but tarter than expected. Notes of tart cherry, super dark (unsweetened) chocolate, and yes.m, tobacco. Recommend letting this wine breathe for at least 10-15 minutes (even after decanting); it’s really mellowed out and brought out smoother flavors. — 10 days ago
Mix of damp & dried rose petal floral notes, stones soil and graphite. Fruit is cherry edging towards kirsch with some almond paste and red liquorice.
Big soft and balanced palate full of buffered red cherry fruit and dried herbs. — 14 days ago
