Clos de Mez

Chateau Gaillard Morgon 2015

Lyle Fass

Classic Mez Morgon nose of deep black cherry, cracked pepper, minerals and blueberry. Smells deep. Palate is chewy, dense and ripe with tons or structure. Very pure and deep as the nose suggests. Superb density and concentration. This is delicious but needs 2-3 hours open and has 15+ years ahead of it. Always epic at Clos de Mez — 3 months ago

Château Peyrou

Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

2008 vintage. Catherine Papon-Nouvel produces excellent organic wines (also at her three Saint-Emilion estates Gaillard, Clos Saint Julien and Petit Gravet Aîné) and I consider Peyrou 2016 one of the best values in Bordeaux. Therefore I was very happy to find a bottle of 2008 to see the ageing potential, and it was a pleasant surprise. Fully mature, but by no means tired. Even if the tannins are a little rustic (rather typical for the vintage) and it could do with more length, this is great value at 13 euros and a strong case for the ageing potential of Côtes du Castillon wines. — 2 months ago

Saint-Joseph Roussanne 2015

Deep golden color. Vibrant aromatics, jumping out of the glass. White flowers, ginger root, honeysuckle, a touch smokey but balanced by sweet apricots. Layers of melon too. Ginger spice dominates the palate, accented by round stone fruit. Viscous and rich. Just enough acid. Paired wonderfully with seared salmon. Drink or hold. Purchased at winery. 100% Roussanne. — 4 months ago
