Jacques Boyd Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

A wonderful and smooth Margaux blend - this example held up well, with just a slight tinge on the backend but still drinkable. Mature red fruit and classic Bordeaux terroir on the nose and the initial sips. Great with a meal or cheese, this won’t fly solo as well as with a partner! — 16 days ago

Straight down the middle. Not memorable. Wifey liked it. Very little to no tannins - simplistic. I think the winemaker missed the mark with this. — a month ago

Baron de Brane Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Bordeaux blend. More bold and acidic than I was feeling at the time. Slight spice and tobacco. — 8 months ago

Grand Cru Classé en 1855 Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

I can find nothing wrong with this exquisite bottle. This is a wine you can stick your nose in the glass and get lost in depths, amid layers of swirling fruit and spice. It is both mellow and sultry, showing leather, pepper, peony and violet, and then bright and lively fruit on the palate, cherry and blackberry that are a bit ethereal. Unadulterated Margaux joy. — 10 days ago

Delicious with sirloin kebabs

On the nose, plumb, cherry, soil, cigar box, and leather. Flavors of blackberry, plumb, earth, and some black cherry are backed by dusty tannins. Finish quite long with black and red fruits. At the 10 year mark this is really starting to hit its stride

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

Intense but smooth and elegant. This bottle was at the end of its life and should be consumed soon. The cork was soft and fell apart but after straining the cork the wine was unspoiled. Bitter Bordeaux with strong licorice, oak, and leather flavors. The tannins are perfectly smooth in the finish. Classic Bordeaux nose. This wine needs to be consumed with steak, and will not work well with other foods because of its intensity. I had it with strong cheese and that worked, but steak would have matched far better. — 16 days ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

2005 vintage. Orange peel, watercress, dill and some meatiness in the nose. Light-medium body. A dead ringer for a comparably-aged Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Fay or SLV cab. Def on the feminine side and a little tobacco and cinnamon on a lengthy finish. Top of its’ particular bell curve and has another 3-4 years at this station/junction. Lacks the stuffing to go farther but a very respectable showing nonetheless. Zero speed bumps and well integrated. — 2 months ago

Gravel, forest floor tones on the nose. Smooth finish. Good entry into drinking more French wine, definitely unique — 9 months ago
