Extra Brut Rosé Blend 2019

The nose is a juicy slice of watermelon and the fruity acid strangely reminds me of ketchup-loaded bbq hot dogs in the park at the same time. The palate is zippy with spikey fun jumps just like the urchin pictured on the label. This slip-n-slider of a sparkler rolls with fuller strawberry guava body. Among the more tastefully interesting sparkling modern wines. It’s almost thanksgiving but I’m suddenly ready to celebrate the Fourth of July! — 13 days ago

Terroirs Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

Paired w remaining grilled oysters and BBQ pork ribs.
Pale, almost peach skin color. Subdued noae that is more tertiary than predominantly fruity, bracing.
On day 2, and warmer this showed much more complexity.

1692 Discover Collection Stellenbosch Pinotage Shiraz 2019

I really enjoy the QPR of many different varietals and blends that Spier produces. This #shiraz #pinotage blend pours dark purple. After it opens up a bit, earthy, smoky, laid-back bramble fruit and slight petrol and rubber notes from the Pinotage. Striking acidity, blue/black fruit, some bitter chocolate and coffee with well-behaved tannins all swirled together; clearly a fantastic BBQ wine.

Destruction Level Monterey Grenache Blend 2015

A GS blend and aptly-named. Big and bold with huge red fruit, cherry, strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry. Anise, oak, menthol, and leather as well. Moderate plus tannins, high alcohol, and high acid. Too hot to drink without big, spicy protein. Would match well with bbq pork ribs. — 11 days ago
