Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Delectable Wine

The 2016 Barbaresco is a knock-out. And it is, for lack of a better word, the entry-level wine in this range. Freshly cut flowers, mint, cinnamon, red berry fruit and orange zest are some of the notes that lift from a Barbaresco that is all class. There is plenty of structure, but the purity of the fruit is so striking that the tannins are not especially noticeable. The 2016 is a stunning wine, that’s all there is to it. Falletto di Serralunga D'Alba Barolo Nebbiolo 2005

Wow - so much to find on the gorgeous nose on this one - classic Barolo notes but just deeper and more elegant. Just a glass to explore and not enough time! Clearly miles to go in bottle and needs plenty of air to show! — 8 days ago

Cavanna Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Medium garnet hue with heavy tearing. Lots of tart, red cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate primary notes. Delicate white pepper notes. Secondary notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and cedar. Some tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, and earth. Medium(+) body and alcohol (actually 14% ABV). Strong tannins and acidity. Medium(+) finish. — 11 days ago

Ronchi Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Delectable Wine

The 2016 Barbaresco Ronchi, the estate’s top selection, marries elegance with power so well. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries, anise and blood orange confer freshness that plays off the wine’s dense, expansive fruit. A rush of sweet raspberry, cherry and rose petal punctuates the exuberant finish. The 2016 is a fabulous wine from a property that has been on the ascent in recent years. Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Catching up on some camping weekend drinking posts. Lovely but young Barolo from a classic producer. A bit on the lighter bodied side for my taste but so drinkable - cherry and tobacco on the palate that is just perfect with grilled meats. Will let some of my bottles settle down longer but this is a nice wine to drink now. — 10 days ago

Santo Stefano Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2007

Excellent wine. Tannins here are more firm than the 2007 Giuseppe Cortese Rabaja. Aromatics are more subdued, but as this gets more air it just gets better and better. — 6 days ago

Stunning bottle. Quite Burgundian. Tannins are relatively soft. Aromatics are just incredible. — 6 days ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

Delectable Wine

The 2017 Barbaresco is a terrific wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Ample and creamy, the 2017 is so inviting. Sweet red cherry, crushed flowers, mint, cedar, rose petal and blood orange give the 2017 an exotic character that is so appealing. Another year or two in bottle will help the tannins soften. This is nicely done. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2020) — 7 days ago

Been over a year since I’ve had this. Lovely spice and cherry. Tar, leather, smoke. Terrific cherry fruit. Superb minerality and what brightness and depth. Impressive. Glorious cherry fruit and perfect balance. Very pure and wonderful velvety tannins. Great showing. — 8 days ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

Young but such a benchmark for the region. Sappy red and black fruit, bramble, and lithe tar notes. You want this in a blind lineup of what barbaresco “should” be. — 11 days ago
