Castello di Amorosa

Cresta d'Oro Vineyard Rosto 2020

Castello di Amorosa Cresta d'Oro Vineyard Rosato di Pinot Noir 2020, California

Pale salmon in color.

Light nose of lemons, light strawberries, citrus, limes, river rocks, green apples, sea salt and earth.

Light to medium in body with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, strawberries, limes, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, light earth, green apples and minerals.

Nice length on the finish with limes.

This is a very enjoyable Rosé from Russian River Valley. Nicely balanced, crisp and refreshing. Light and engaging without being bitter nor tart.

This Single Vineyard is showing nice complexity already. Easy drinking and good by itself.

Gets earthier as it opens up with an old world feel (30 minutes).

Good by itself or with food. A tasty wine that I enjoyed all by itself by the pool.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

8 Years in the Desert Zinfandel Blend 2016

This is a big and bold Zinfandel based red Blend from California.

Showing black fruits with tobacco, chocolates, coffee, cola, vanilla, cedar, licorice and mocha.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Jammy and creamy. Smooth and easy drinking.

Enjoyable by itself, and would pair nicely with a burger.

Would be interesting to try it in a few years, as it might calm down a bit. Might be too sweet for some.

A blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Syrah.

El Padrino De La Cuadrilla Ballard Canyon Syrah Blend 2018

Nose has jammy ripe raspberry & blackberry, spicy oak/cedar and warm plum.

Palate has ripe blackberry, plum, black cherry and dry soil.

Opened 3 days earlier, it was a tannic and jammy beast, not my style. Honestly the youngest bottle we've opened, so I wasn't terribly surprised by the showing. This wine has really settled with very extended air, quite pleased tonight.

2018 blend is 70% Syrah, 15% Grenache & 15% Sangiovese. We've been enjoying this wine randomly since about the 2009 vintage, embracing the culture behind the label. Look it up if you're not familiar.

Chavez Vineyard Alicante Bouschet Rosé 2020

Happy to be the first to post this. Delectable classified as a Rosé, but the HY boys say it was made as a white wine and presents as a Rosé.” Pic doesn’t capture the color. Beautiful nose, but finish a bit rough on opening. A few hours of air smoothed this out nicely. Wonderful on days 2 and 4. Part of the burgeoning SoCal wine scene. Keep an eye on these guys. Beautiful labels, better wines, terrific folks. 12.49% ABV. The NEW new California. Great things ahead! — 16 hours ago

This is a nice and easy drinking Riesling from Columbia Valley.

Showing citrus, limes, lemons, spices, light diesel and minerals.

Medium bodied with high acidity. Well balanced, crisp and refreshing.

Dry to off dry on the palate with a tangy finish and better when properly chilled.

Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with spicy food.

Stonestreet Estate Vineyards

Chardonnay 2014

‘14 aged well! In the autumn of 1989, Jess Jackson acquired the Zellerbach winery and renamed it in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson. From higher elevation vineyards, medium lemon color with stone fruit aromas & floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple and pear, a tad buttery with layered spice, vivid acidity supporting the French oak aging. Medium+ finish ending with citrus mineral character. Very nice, drink now! — 9 days ago

Domaine Serene

Evenstad Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2017

The story of Domaine Serene harks back to Minnesota, where Grace met the late Ken Evenstad, and the couple’s partnership in life and business first began. 💕@domaineserene

With a faith in the terroir of Willamette Valley, Oregon, this pioneering couple purchased land in the Dundee Hills AVA, establishing Domaine Serene in 1989, crafting their first vintage in 1990.🇺🇸🍇

Since then, Domaine Serene has grown, expanded, and rightfully garnered critical acclaim for producing some of the finest expressions of Pinot Noir from this region. 👏👏👏👏👏 Due to their thoughtful dry-farming and sustainable practices in the vineyard, meticulous micro-cru vinification processes, pursuit of blending, judicious use of oak, and aging prior to release, a consumer may come to expect a unique, consistent experience with a glass of this beautiful wine.🍷 In our experience, it never disappoints as a special wine to be shared during the holidays or celebratory moments. 🎉

Here is the Domaine Serene, Evenstad Reserve, Willamette Valley, Vintage 2017, ABV 14.4%. It has a strong structure, and balance, backed by high acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, and vibrant fruit aromas such as cherry, kirsch, and blackberry. It also offers complexity in aromas and flavors with not only red / black fruit, but also violet, licorice, clove, vanilla, cola, saddle leather, nutmeg, and forest floor notes. The finish lingers.👌👌👌👌

In 2015, the Evenstads made their dream a reality by purchasing Château de la Crée in Santenay, Burgundy, France, an estate that dates back to the 15th Century. 🇫🇷 Their story is inspiring and their wines are delicious. We hope to someday visit their estates in Willamette and Santenay.

Until then we will continue to enjoy their wines and remember their story, pioneering spirit, partnership, and pursuit of excellence in their craft. Cheers! ✨✨✨

Beringer Vineyards

California Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

2017 vintage opened July 2021. I’m not sure why peeps are giving this wine the sub-9.0 ratings that they are. This is a very drinkable wine with an excellent balance and a nice complexity. Mild scent of leather and dry clay on the nose. Strawberries and red raspberries on the front. A mid-level tannic structure — smooth but not smothering — which I’ve found to be a characteristic of Sonoma Cabs. Soft finish. Maybe a few afternotes, enough to consider it a “long finish”. Subtle but thoroughly enjoyable. Drinkable now, drinkable for at least another decade. — 3 days ago

Sine Qua Non

The Hated Hunter Syrah 2017

Sine Qua Non vs Schrader cage fight tonight.

+4 hour decant (some fine cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark purplish garnet color. On the nose: red and black fruit, stewed meat, sandalwood, pepper, bacon, charcoal. Taste: a smooth, rich, soft, powerful wine with dark cherry, licorice, smoke, leather, pepper and a long dark chocolate espresso finish. YUM! It has everything you want. Its young(probably a better score if I have patience), but so good I might pop another bottle tomorrow. Cheers!
