Chablis Chardonnay

Delicious. Had it with a chilli crab and prawn dish and it was perfect. — 2 months ago

Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

1997 vintage. Still dark as all get out. A quarter century has thinned out the massive body to medium body but the unified nose/flavors are full of chaparral/scrub, cassis, baking chocolate, gravelly dirt and blackberry reduction. Tasted approximately two hours after decanting. Miles to go before this one sleeps. In the zone now and likely so for another decade before any noticeable drop off in this old school Dunn experience. — 2 years ago

Love those Napa 97's, agreed they will be long lived!

Château Angélus

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

1990 vintage. Oo-de-lally! Miles to go before this one is done. Top of the bell curve. Drinking beautifully and better grip than the ‘89 tasted recently. — 4 years ago

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron

Baron de Pichon-Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

2000 vintage. Last tasted 9.25.23 (9.2) after 1.5 hours decanted. Popped and decanted this for lunch. Great fill and solid cork. Throwing a bit of sed but less than anticipated. Meh nose. Medium body initially. Started off on the rich side of the ledger but not plush. Had some smoothness afoot. Tasted after 45 mins open, 1.75 hours open and 8 hours open. First two were unspectacular. After lounging in the decanter 8 hours, wine had firmed up, thinned out, picked up plenty of secondary flavors and had that previously missing grip. If you're gonna open this during the holidays or anytime soon, do it very very early...otherwise, it'll be a total waste. Wine has miles to go. No rush to crush but just air it out in advance properly. 10.16.24. — 2 months ago

Nice long description!

Glen Manor Vineyards

Hodder Hill Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

So not much has changed in 3 yrs since first trying this in the tasting room. The profile is lean and linear. 69 CS 16 Merlot and the rest PV. This clearly the weakest build of Jeff’s run of left bank builds. The 2014 was classic, so not huge numbers for the CS. THE TEXTURE IS LOVELY though. ;) 90+ for sure, keeping the streak ALIVE!! — 3 years ago

Miles from Nowhere

Margaret River Chardonnay 2019

Pale, near watery straw gold with light green highlights. Shy, inviting nose and medium light palate of yellow apple, juicy citrus rind, and lemon drop. Medium plus acidity. Medium short finish. So, this is Margaret River Chardonnay. A food-friendly, lightly oaked Chardonnay in a New World meets Burgundy style. Enjoy with a wide range of fare from crisp salads to hearty roasted poultry. It will pair nicely. Drink now through 2024. — 4 years ago

Dominus Estate

Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

2011 vintage. Decanted with some sed and tasted after 1 hour. Bigg structure with plenty of tobacco, underbrush and dark fruit. A complex kid. Lots of moving parts but really unified currently and moving towards a common goal. Total BDX ringer in a pricey blind. This has miles to go. 8.2.24. — 5 months ago

Consistent! I’ve tasted several vintages and I’m mostly very pleased. Drinking Very Local. I may be biased, as I am currently living 3 miles south of the winery, sometimes that can cloud your perception. But this stuff is good. The QPR is out of this world. Can’t wait to visit the winery and taste through the lineup. — 4 years ago

From Wine-Searcher “Fifty Shades of Syrah”: Nights in the northern Rhône are cool; acidity levels are good. Only in very hot vintages does more shading, via canopy management, become necessary. But at the same time, Guigal is investing in cooler sites in the north of Côte-Rôtie – Philippe mentions Saint-Cyr sur le Rhône, which was "considered too cold 10 years ago, but we feel that [it] could become interesting to very interesting in the future and in warm vintages".

Need more info, what North of Rotie equates to, New AOC?? Moving into Beaujolais? ... ??
