Really nice wine, then even better with dinner: Eggplant Parmigiana. — 2 months ago
Pale Gold in colour. A muted restrained nose initially from this excellent vintage for White Burgundy. Also restrained on the palate. Lacks intensity in comparison with local Chardonnay for similar money. I know this is at odds with my previous note 32 weeks ago but you can only taste them as you see them. I have had some particularly good Australian Chardonnays lately albeit a little dearer than this at $51 AUD. Nothing inherently wrong with this Burgundy it just doesn’t deliver much. — a month ago
Drinking beautiful right now! Lusch tannins! — 8 days ago
2015. Young but very enjoyable. Took 4 hours to open up to a mouthful of precise cherry fruit, tar and leather; tasted like a good Brunello by end of eve. James Suckling gave this a 98; well-made but not full-bodied or concentrated enough to reach that caliber. Still a great value at $32 (Wine Library); need to buy more. — 9 days ago
55% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec & 13.9% EtOH
Matthiasson’s version of a classic balanced and age-worthy red wine. A strong trademark structure for aging, this wine is held for an additional three years in bottle before being released.
Brilliant garnet colored wine with pale red rim, fast forming legs
Notes of cedar, tobacco, graphite, pomegranate, raspberry, blackberry, menthol, black cherry, black currant, black plum, smooth tannins, medium acidity, fruit forward. Great age ability. — 23 days ago
Vino color violáceo vivo y clarificado. Aroma abierto y armónico con notas amaderadas, canela, frambuesa, tánico. En boca tiene un cuerpo elegante y estructurado de larga persistencia. Vino redondo, potente y agradable en boca. — a month ago
Another hot day in the Berkshires (+90°F) with outdoor chores filling most of my day.
First place in my heart for most amazing color on rosé Champagne. For ~$32, everyone should be hugging the Fass Selections team.
Prior notes still apply:
Nose has maraschino cherry, sliced pear, wet chalk, mashed raspberry and dry minerals.
Palate has chalky ripe cherry, granite pebbles, fresh blood orange pith, fresh raspberry and light strawberry-raspberry jam. — a month ago
