Always solid. Those great “mineral” reductive notes. Dry. Fresh and juicy. A great #riesling #australianwine — 7 years ago
Wow! Full bodied and very drinkable Aussie Shiraz. Includes 5% Mataro. Lots of fruit, pepper, leather and chocolate. Very approachable now but should stay in form for another 5-7 years. Nice bottle for $19.

I love the bottle and the name. It's strange, but with screw cap and only 2011, there are already signs of age and evolution. Very nice except for the warmth, it has good acidity and ripe red fruit, but I'm not sure it will evolve well. #shiraz #australianwine — 9 years ago
Seafood and Sauvignon Blanc is just a no-brainer for me. I was making homemade sushi 🍣 recently – the first time in so long – and I thought this @mountavoca wine sample I received last month (thank you!) would be the perfect accompaniment.
Between you and me it was pretty darn good 😉
We also had some chicken and vegetable sushi too and it held up to all the strong flavours really well – even the wasabi!
In the glass it’s a vibrant white gold colour. On the nose there’s juicy pears, gooseberry and lemongrass, while in the mouth it’s a delicious acidity bomb which is balanced out with sweet passionfruit, and a hint of green capsicum. YUM!
100% organic grapes – Minimal SO2 added – Vegan friendly
Mount Avoca focus on producing organic wine from their Victorian winery based in Pyrenees wine region. They grow, made and bottle all their wines onsite and even offer “Eco-Luxe” lodges accomodation at the vineyard. Who doesn’t love a winery escape am I right?
The 400 acre property was planted with vines in 1970 and also includes olive trees (there’s about 600 on the property today). The team behind Mount Avoca naturally went down the route of using no chemicals in the vineyard and are Australian Certified Organic (Cert No. 11470A).
What is extra delicious about Mount Avoca is that they have probably one of the best deals around for their wine club.
Basically when you sign up to the Mount Avoca Wine Club, you get 50% off the price of your wine. What the?!? I know. Pretty darn good right!
There’s a minimum commitment of three 12 bottle wine deliveries per year in order to cash in on the above awesome deal.
The above wine is part of the Estate Mixed Dozen Wine Club case.
The above wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it. All opinions are based on my own taste buds and I share what I enjoy so others can discover amazing wines too. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

I don't always drink #australianwine, but when I do, I prefer at least 10 years of bottle age. — 8 years ago
This wine was pretty amazing and according to @mykenice 2002 was not a great vintage. A Bordeaux blend in a refined style but showing some spice similar to Syrah. I'll definitely have my eye out for @yarra_yering in the future. #YarraValley #AustralianWine — 8 years ago
Exquisite Grenache plum and leathery Syrah jump from the glass with a dusty touch of non-Brett barnyard. Black cherry, licorice, burnt rye toast, blackberry, raspberry reduction, and violet aromas. Big blackberry and luxardo cherry opener, with black currant and ripe black plum. Smooth edges all around here, with grape leaf, and a grape or two too. Touches of mint with bitter chocolate expressions make this a dance of equestrian beauty as saddle leather sage and dark cigar coat the finish. Bolero. .

#AustralianWine NO BUENO! 😷 — 7 years ago
Big, rich, spicy. Everything you'd expect from Barossa. Well made and still showing a lot of primary elements. #screwcap #australianwine — 8 years ago

Lime pith swells with shallot, lemon peel and lemon-poppy bread, seashell, chive, carnation, orchids, candied grapefruit peel bouquet. Dry and enticing entry, has a Chablis like austerity, but rounder, showing chamomile and caper with lemon juiciness. .
