Amador County Chenin Blanc 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Significantly better on Day 2 as the wine completely opened up. The 2021 Amador County pours a pale yellow color with medium+ viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is clean; developing with notes of golden apples, quince, lemon verbena, white tree flower, lanolin, and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is dry with super sneaky, high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with a woolly texture. Lovely stuff. Drink now with patience and a lot of air otherwise better after 2026 and should be great through 2035. — a month ago

Salon

'S' Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut Chardonnay 1997

Still quite medium light lemon yellow , pretty youthful looking . Was pretty difficult to get the cork out and wasn’t going to risk sabrage on a bottle of Salon ! A few very fine but persistent bottles . Nicely yellow fruit driven nose , lemon peel, vanilla , acacia , orange blossom and pastry . On the palate quite rich and rounded , those citrus peel notes , mixed with oyster shell , and dried apricot , and baked pastry . Quite a lot of extract still and really quite fresh , long and well balanced finish . Perfect drinking now and over the next 10 years perhaps. This is the original release from a case purchased here in Brazil about 7 years ago, still going strong which is good to know . — 4 months ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Not sure there are better 13 whites than Raveneau. Lafon also comes to mind. It’s an early drinking vintage (by Raveneau standards) while you wait for 12 and 14. Also, no Chapelot this year so it’s blended in here. A multi hour advance decant has it rocking, stunningly aromatic, soaring with layers of créme fraîche, baking spice, crushed stones and a whisper of botrytis influenced saffron. The palate shows immense power, concentration and depth of waxy yellow fruit chiseled with Chablisen minerality. Brilliant tension and racy lemony acids provide a seamless balance to its power and richness. MDT always hits 🫰🏻 — 6 days ago

Comtes de Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay 2013

Delectable Wine
9.8

The 2013 Comtes de Champagne is a towering Champagne, as it was last year. Rich, sumptuous and explosive, the 2013 soars out of the glass with a captivating mix of tropical fruit, apricot, passion fruit, baked apple tart, mint and yellow flowers. It is one of the most explosive, extroverted Comtes I have ever tasted. Impressive. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2024)

Moscow Yellow Label Brut Champagne Blend

Tart apple aroma. Looks like pale spun gold with medium bubbles. First sip is fine and clean, with a hint of apricot and yeast. Tangy finish becomes more pronounced with further sips. — 5 months ago

Brut Champagne Blend 2008

This was opened and we enjoyed a few glasses before recorking and reapproaching 24 hours later, at which point it was really singing. Yellow peach, pear and medley of orchard fruit, layered with pressed yellow flowers, dried persimmon, and notes of vanilla and bourbon. So delicate. Such fine bubbles. Saltwater taffy and some caramel and rock salt on the palate. Subtle tannic echo. Mesmerizing. — 6 months ago

@Peter van den Besselaar better to rephrase- it was good but reticent upon opening, so we recorked it and then tried again after 24 hours, at which point it was really amazing.

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2002

Medium lemon yellow , persistent fine perlage . At first quite shy , needs a bit of time to get going . Then buttered pastry , confit lemon and roast nuts , quite bold and rich , just a hint of chalky minerality . On the palate the richer , deeper theme continues , those pastry and buttery notes , confit lemon and a creamy mouthfeel . Long balanced finish , the chalky acidity really helping to cut through richer , mouth filling profile . Coming back to this at the end of the meal , having sat 6 hours in the glass , this still shows remarkable freshness and life. This seems young to me still , certainly has everything for a long life ahead , better in 5 years perhaps and will show well a further 10-15 perhaps . — 13 days ago

Upper Barn Chardonnay 2016

This is an excellent Sauvignon blanc. It's extremely rich in flavors like pineapple, peach, and vanilla. Gorgeous yellow hue. Goes well with sweet biscuits and dried fruit or a vongole. — 4 months ago

#AgedWineTuesday

Champagne and Lobster for lunch?

Light yellow in color with a golden tint, and a nice nose.

Medium bodied with high acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing green apples, citrus, light grapefruits, light earth, minerals, yeast, limes, light brioche, spices and white pepper.

Nice finish with limes and light almonds.

This 19 year old vintage Champagne is delicious. Nicely balanced and elegant. Tangy and interesting.

Good by itself right out of the bottle, but better after 60 Minutes of air time.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Would be nice to try it again in 5 to 10 years.

Robert Parker 95 points.

Good with food too. I paired it with barbecued lobster.

A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Aged for 15 years in the winery.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$550.
