Heron Lake Vineyard Chardonnay 2020

Quite Chablis like. Just 600 bottles made. Not super complex. More on the subtle side. Lemon and touch herbs 🌿. 12.8%. One of the the producers which are on the burgh side of the spectrum. — 5 months ago

Cornas Syrah 2020

Delectable Wine
9.6

The full-bodied 2020 Cornas is a wild thing. Concentrated and expressive, it combines all the elements that Clape-enthusiasts rave about: a juicy core of fruit, ferrous gradations, crushed flowers, meaty undertones, rustic funkiness and an herbal edge. Remarkably round tannins lend solid structure to the delicious 2020, an instant classic that shows excellent persistence on the savory finish. (Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, March 2024)

Jean Foillard

"Cuvée Corcelette" Morgon Gamay 2022

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours and alongside Boulard’s “Corcelette” from 2014. The 2022 “Cuvée Corcelette” from Foillard pours a deep garnet color with medium viscosity and moderate staining of the tears. On the nose the wine is developing with notes of wild strawberries, freshly cut roses, tarragon, licorice, blood orange, and a new bar of Irish Spring. It’s definitely a touch mousy but well within the acceptable range for me. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, fresh and so Foillard. Drink now through 2042. — 5 months ago

Paolo Bea

San Valentino Sangiovese Blend 2017

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2017 San Valentino pours a slightly hazy, ruby color with medium+ viscosity and light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart, red fruit: sour Montmorency cherry, wood varnish, horse blanket, black licorice, old wood, and stony earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and zippy. One of the more wild vintages of San Valentino I’ve ever had and this bottle wasn’t quite as good as the one I had a couple years back. Drink now and enjoy what nature gave to Paolo and Giampiero. — 4 days ago
