Lanson

Vintage Collection Brut Champagne Blend 1985

Still vital. From mag. Some toasted and sherried notes but a live wire of fresh citrus acidity. Settled soft notes of roses and some dried orange. Very good shape given its age — 2 years ago

No.3 Reverence of Riesling 2017

It would be more useful if Delectable labelled these with what the numbers actually mean: No. 3 is the Clare Valley riesling. And what a joy it is, full of juicy lemon, vital and bright, but with the bristling acid softened from what it was at release. Lemon barley cordial without the sweetness. Still very much on the youthful side with only a hint on the nose of secondary development to come. Incredibly moreish. — 3 years ago

Grüner Veltliner 2021

All proceeds to Walla Walla’s SOS Clinic, free, nonprofit health services. Pale yellow, floral and peach aromas, peach and lemon flavors. Crisp, light skin astringency. Mineral and slightly lactic finish. A good cause, and a pretty good take on this varietal. Enjoy. — a year ago

St. Helena Estate

Single Vineyard Merlot 2005

2005 vintage. Solid colour. Amazingly vital, with still good fruit. Not especially complex, but a very nice wine. — 2 years ago

Buronfosse

L'Hôpital Côtes du Jura White Blend

Matté
9.6

Stunner of a Savagnin, nose evokes a lovely mix of toasted nuts, caramel, apple sauce, camomile, white & yellow flowers as well as an almond croissant richness.
Rich mouth feel with vibrant acidity and that walnut skin tannin after taste.
Young, vital with some rough edges that should smooth out with a bit of time in bottle.

(from a 0.31ha vineyard planted in ‘06 on limestone scree and blue/gray marks over limestone, 18 months in fine lees in used oak).

Azienda Agricola Valentini

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2010

Surprising. Almost fizzy- secondary fermentation? Quite funky- Brett? Very vital and alive with a lees-y quality. Bright and precise. — a year ago

Edoardo Valentini used to call that fizzness the breath of the wine.

Indeed, this label as well as their Montepulciano and Cerasuolo have always been legendary. They go beyond the varieties and the typologies. They all age like you cannot understand why

Bodegas Margón

Pricum Primeur Prieto Picudo 2019

Raul Perez is a bit of a wine rock star, so I admittedly came to this 17$ entry level new project of his (with the Prieto varietal) with baited breath…& it did not disappoint. It drinks like…surprise.. a baby Morgon, with clean red cherries set in a fairly mineral frame. Quite lush on the nose. Not for acid hounds per se but still so vital & fresh. — 2 years ago

The Given Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

64% Syrah, 36% Cab. Classic Walla Walla nose of smoky embers and dark, low-toned pure berry fruit. Little iodine minerally thing. Broad and textured in the mouth, good acid/tannin balance. Flavors are dark, minerally, and savory. I love the concept of all proceeds going to help the hard-working vineyard and agricultural workers who labor in the area obtain healthcare. — 2 years ago
