Cantina Convento Muri-Gries

Muri-Gries Alto Adige - Südtirol Pinot Grigio 2022

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2022 Pinot Grigio opens with a minty flourish, blending crushed green apples with white smoke and ginger. Candied lime and spice complicate its inner sweetness, while green apple notes add contrast toward the close. The tense, medium-length finish ends with salt and sour green melon. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2024) — 7 days ago

André Perret

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2020

Delectable Wine
9.1

Crafted from fully destemmed grapes, the elegant and polished 2020 Saint-Joseph totally delivers. Violets, black cherry, raspberry and discrete cedar usher in. Ripe tannins structure this medium-bodied and concentrated Saint-Joseph that maintains its elegant profile right through to the refined finale. (Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, March 2024)

Château Ausone

Saint Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2014 Ausone has retained that purity, pastille-like red berry fruit on the nose, with touches of clove and bay leaf, perhaps almost Burgundian in terms of its allure. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, pliant tannins that manifest its velvety texture. This might be the most seductive of any 2014 Bordeaux, fanning out beautifully towards the almost citrus-fresh finish. Gorgeous. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting. Château La Conseillante

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2015 La Conseillante is entertaining the idea of drinkability, though I would personally cellar mine for another couple of years. It is gorgeous on the nose and offers precocious truffle-infused black fruit, maybe a little glossy in style. The palate has a cashmere texture, pliant tannins, tremendous weight and depth without the mineralité that renders the 2016 or 2020 more exciting long-term propositions. Nevertheless, this is a wonderful Pomerol with a long future head. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2012 Opus One is a terrific choice for drinking now. Silky and beautifully perfumed, the 2012 is wonderfully open-knit in this tasting. The purity of the fruit is alluring, There's still a good bit of freshness, too. Naturally, the 2012 reflects the medium-bodied style that is typical of the year, but all the elements are very nicely balanced. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, rose petal, spice and blood orange linger. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2024)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2014 La Mission Haut-Brion offers bright and vivid scents that immediately captivate the olfactory scenes: black fruit, cedar, pencil box and light, minty aromas. It's much better than its First Growth neighbor. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very harmonious, and has lovely depth with a gentle grip. This is a sophisticated and entrancing 2014, one of my favorites in Bordeaux. Highly recommended. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2024)

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2014 Cheval Blanc has an attractive nose with brambly red fruit, sous-bois, a pencil box and a touch of Xmas cake. It does not take too much aeration before it develops further aromas of black truffle and morels. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fleshy, ripe and tensile with red peppercorn hints toward the slightly granular finish. Very harmonious and persistent. It is outstanding in the context of the vintage. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year-On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2024)

Krug

Vintage Brut Champagne Blend 2008

Delectable Wine
9.7

The 2008 Vintage is an infant. Tightly wound and vibrant, the 2008 still needs time. Today, bright acids dominate. I wouldn't dream of touching this anytime soon, as the 2008 remains embryonic, although from time to time the barest hints of signature Krug notes peek out from the wine's structure. Vibrant saline notes and sculpted fruit are the signatures of a cold, late-ripening year that produced classically austere Champagnes. Disgorged: Autumn 2019. Krug ID: 419044. Vieux Château Certan

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2014 Vieux Château Certan has proven to be a strong performer in recent years, and there has been no change ten years on. Blacker fruit than its peers, plenty of black truffle shavings and a slightly pronounced marine influence. Maybe just a tad more VA than I recall? The palate is medium-bodied with a harmonious and silky smooth entry and fine precision, not a powerful VCC, and very elegant with raspberry, orange rind, tertiary notes and tobacco toward the finish. Wonderful. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2024)

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1959

Delectable Wine
9.8

The 1959 Latour is a vintage that I have drunk many times. It contains a payload of irresistible and quite precocious red fruit on the nose with blood orange, cedar and a touch of thyme, beautifully defined. The palate has exquisite balance, poised yet powerful, with a multi-dimensional, profound finish that is one of the smoothest-textured you will find on any Latour vintage. Absolutely divine. Tasted at Arbor restaurant in Hong Kong. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2024)
