Second time I have had this wine this bottled was stunning . Vibrant , great balance, earth and mineral tones wrapped in a nice robe of cassis . Wow!

Tasted blind. Light tawny but there's a nice brightness in the color. Great old Bordeaux nose. Notes of black raspberry, cherry, moist forest floor, gravel and a little mocha. Amazing complexity in the mouth. This has more going for it in the mouth/finish when compared to the 55 Palmer next to it. The 55 Palmer overall was a better experience, but this was best in class for its complex mouthfeel. Guessed 1961 Palmer.

Still holding on. I think it has reached the twilight of its optimum drinking. Still very enjoyable but it's development is starting to erode the wine.

Sadly, it's corked. But would have been delicious as color and structure are still there.

Stephen opening a 1970 Palmer in his garage yesterday (overspill space from the cellar) using a modified winged corkscrew (longer and wider worm). One of many wines from our session, though the only one I have a picture of. And the only one that was corked:-(

Lots of structure and punch under the wet cardboard but rating it wouldn't do it justice. Glad I have 3 more bottles as I was really looking forward to this. Will have to open another soon.

On the nose bright red fruit presents itself however on the palate it is hard to find. Tannins have decreased considerably although some acidity remains. A good wine that is past it's prime. Drink now
