Really, great malbec at its peak — 2 months ago
Trying the Mas de Daumas Gassac lineup. Aside from their flagship Languedoc red this might be my fav. It’s rose sparkling with incredibly bright strawberry notes and deep acidity. Light lees flavour. The hefty body and full mousse really make it stand out. Wow. — 6 months ago
Our New Year’s Eve wine is 2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard. Still too early to open this? After four hours, the wine finally showed us who she was. Elegant, yet still restrained. We also opened 1996 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot. Still drinkable. You can still enjoy the history. Bye bye 2025.
大晦日最後のワインは、2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard。 Bye Bye 2025! — 7 months ago
An explosion of apricot flavor. Round and smooth, heavy weight, with sufficient but not overt acidity. A beautiful sweet wine. — 9 days ago

98 was not a great vintage and why Giacosa bottled the SS as a red label has long been a bit of a mystery. There’s a lot in this wine to like, and no reason to leave it sitting in the cellar. Fully mature, ample bricking, softer but still lively fruit, rich mouthfeel with classic sous bois, a bit of iron, red berry and herbal overlay, and soft maybe a bit overripe tannin. Lovely, but not near Giacosa’s most memorable SSRs. — 9 hours ago
