Nice nose that reminds me of La Folle Noire d'Ambat from Domaine le Roc in Fronton. There is a bit of a wild thing on the nose, with nice cherry and black cherry notes, there is also an iron, metallic touch. Some savoury scents add some complexity. The palate is juicy, acid driven, with some width, some savoury notes all along, like worcestershire sauce. There is a bit of a tannic grip in the rear and a rather long and juicy, and grippy finish that goes on for a while and ends up with that umami flavour. This is very good and a great value at about 17 USD in equivalent local currency. Warmly recommended. 14% abv — 3 days ago

Strong red fruit in the nose with a touch of smokey oak. Raspberry and red cherry with a touch of leather and violet opens into round tannins with a dry medium mouth feel. The finish is long with good tannins settling into a touch of maduro style cigar and fennel seed. Very enjoyable and I recommend decanting this bottle. — 14 days ago

Black a new blend produced from classic varieties that do not make it into the Quinta do Noval vintage. Deep Ruby red color with pronounced aromas of berry fruits, spice and floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, spice, leather and smoke. Long finish, full bodied, smooth tannins, ending with fruit, cacao and tobacco notes. Nice. — 4 months ago

[8-hour decant] Ripe, rich, very youthful still, with a noticeable tannic backbone, but also shows a sweet palate (think Graham’s/Fonseca, though the Symington family owns Graham’s, Dow’s, Warre’s and Cockburn’s, among others??), this should easily evolve/improve another 10-20 years, very long finish, outstanding vintage Porto, super long finish!! — 4 months ago
