Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2016

I think I preferred the 2015 but ever so slightly and as much as I struggle to believe glasses make a difference they poured the 2016 in a big cab glass and I think that distracted from the flavors that were evident in the tighter 2015 glass. — 8 days ago

Tenuta Col d'Orcia

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

2018 vintage. Solid but unexciting. Medium body. Hit within the next decade as this lacks the structure to cellar long-term. If you've still got the 2016 vintage, let that one sleep. 8.28.24. — 10 days ago

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2011

Opened it because I panicked: literature said it’s drinking window was closing. Well… no hurry if you still got these. This wine was terrific! Perfectly balanced, everything blended in. Supertuscan blend with mainly merlot — 24 days ago

Tannic at the open and smoother into the finish. This one will be even better with more years behind it. — 7 days ago

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2019

9.6

Deep ruby coloration. No translucency. On the nose, blackberry, black cherry, plum, leather and florals. On the palate, complex and layered, with strong minerality, florals, spice, black cherry, plum and black berry with long finish of fruit and florals. Full bodied and balanced tannins. — 10 days ago

Valdicava

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2007

From magnum and decanted about 2 hours prior to dinner. Paired with wagyu steaks. Wine was hearty and robust. Little dusty and smooth tannins. — 20 days ago

Ruffino

Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2013

This 11 year old Sangiovese is still drinking nicely.

Showing red and black fruits with wood, earth, vegetables, spices, light oak and chocolate notes.

Showing nice complexity, but a little unbalanced.

I definitely like it better with age.

A blend of 80% Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$30.
