WNH virtual tasting - great fun!
This presented in a somewhat idiosyncratic way. The nose displayed apples, pears and a touch of caramel. But the palate was like a chameleon - first, you noticed the typical Chardonnay signature, but it also displayed some SB like (sherbet) notes. A rare white from NSG, as this village, for the most part, produces reds. Medium weight and texture, with a balanced acid profile. Finishes with a flinty note. I wouldn’t be able to honestly decipher this from good quality Champagne Blanc de Blanc at double the price. It’s rich and austere and delivers at a sophisticated level. Asian pear and yellow apple, then graham cracker and almond biscotti. If I was the type of guy with a house wine... — a month ago
Day 2... smoky bacon bits,, tobacco, cracked pepper, plum and blackberry. Big and bold. Classic. Dry, tannic (especially for Syrah), with rich blue and blackberry fruit. Striking fruit leads to savory finish. Paired very well with elk chili. Showed well after a 2 hour decant yesterday. Drink with decant or hold. — 20 days ago
Delicious. Smooth. Bold. Moss. Herby — a month ago
Nicely focused and well-delineated, with red fruit, earth notes and zippy acidity. Could have used a bit more flesh on the bones, but worked quite well with food. Very consistent, solid producer. — 19 days ago
