Dark cherries, cassis, smooth tannic tongue weight, leather like I’m being bound, pepper, apricot, delicious! — 4 months ago
Montevertine's Pian del Ciampolo blend is 90% Sangiovese, rest with equal amounts of Canaiolo and Colorino, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of red fruits, floral, herbs and smoky oak. On the palate flavors of cherry and currants with dried herb notes, cacao and tobacco notes. Fine ripe sweet tannins, long finish ending with fruit and an earthy herb spice character. Nice! — 5 months ago
Poured into a decanter right before service. The 2020 pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium viscosity, with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Montmorency cherry, red flowers, black tea, fresh sage, some dried green herbs and dry, dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This is a classic, rustic Chianti Classico without the DOCG designation. Better after 2030 and will drink well through 2045. — 5 months ago
2022 vintage. Medium/medium-heavy body. Pricing good and plushy but without enough of a supporting cast. 6.24.26. — 4 days ago

Got this bottle on my last Virgin Voyage and I had extra $ on my bar tab - a fantastic opportunity to purchase a couple exclusive (expensive) bottles like this. Sassicaia is a known leader in Super Tuscans. My first time trying Sassicaia… opened the bottle only for a couple of hours but a big beautiful bouquet of big jammy goodness that definitely isn’t shy. Wow 🤩 a delicious wine that doesn’t disappoint! — 6 months ago

2019 vintage. FLB collateral damage. Opened and decanted. Tasted after 20 mins, 1 hour and 1.5 hours. No noticeable development(s) during that time. Medium/medium-heavy body. Some chunk. Some refinement. Obvious quality evident. Similar to the 2016 vintage tasted 6.12.26. Very, very nice but ultimately incapable of reaching the stratosphere that multiple vintages of this wine have reached...and breached. Seek out the 2018 vintage of this noww and thank me later. 6.26.26. — 2 days ago
