Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, herbs, light oak, spices and licorice. Very aromatic nose.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco, chocolates, peppercorn, light earth, licorice, light eucalyptus and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 9 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Paso Robles is drinking beautifully now. Complex with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining, tangy and interesting.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. After 3 hours, the nose is just beautiful.

I had it 4 years ago and decided to give it a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Still showing lots of fruits with great complexity. So much better now.

Drinking at its peak, and will continue to do so in the next few years.

A good sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.

A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Merlot.

2019 vintage shared in Nov 2025. Nice fruit balance with astringent tannins and a very long ever-so-slightly spicy linger. Blueberry and green pepper. Very drinkable and held up well to a rib eye with rich gravy; did OK against a spicy rendition of sole, but only because of the spice (and necessity). — 9 months ago

Black cherry, coco, and coffee notes on the nose are seductive and indicative of the relative youth of this vintage. On the sip, all those flavors come through, especially the black cherry. In addition some black plum, tobacco and vanilla come through. Yum! — 6 years ago

Aromatically the spirit is a little strong, but nice ripe fruit on palate, good balance and depth, shows just a bit of heat into the medium-long finish, sweetness really coming out as wine opens up (5 hour decant), and this one keeps getting better!! — 6 years ago

Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Nose has ripe black cherry, blackberry, spring violets, vanilla, melted bittersweet chocolate and dry earth.

Palate has dried black cherry, ripe black currant, ripe plum, wet tree bark, molasses bread and under-ripe cherry, slightly tart with medium tannins.

Bottled under Stelvin closure, opened for slow oxidation 6H, then decanted 2H, more time appreciated. Notes to be updated.

24H Update:
Nose exudes ripe, sappy dark red fruits, just overrunning the Gabriel Glas, light (warm) molasses, brown bread dough and black cherry syrup reduction. Palate is crazy, all prior traits but with a sweet reduction and the acidity actually picked up. Moving this score from 9.4 to 9.5, likely one of the finest red German wines I've ever tasted. An equal to finely aged Burgundy wine. — 5 years ago
