Plinio Maremma Toscana Vermentino 2024

Blend of Vermentino (85%) and Viognier (15%). Medium golden color. Aromas of green apple, pear, wild herbs, unripe peach and a bit of papaya. Flavors of key lime, nectarine, lemon, chalk and those savory herbs. Bit of saline on the long and expressive finish. Well balanced acidity and a beautiful (lees aging?) creamy, oily and mouth coating texture. Fruit forward but quite savory at the same time. Outstanding value and a wonderful surprise! Thank you so much for sharing this beauty, Chris B! — 3 days ago

Toscana Vermentino 2024

Aia Vecchia – Vermentino / 2024
Toscana IGT – Tuscany / Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
100% Vermentino from coastal Tuscany. A fresh, Mediterranean-driven expression highlighting purity, salinity, and balance. Crafted to emphasize drinkability without sacrificing varietal character.

Aromas & Flavors
Citrus zest, green apple, and white peach layered with subtle herbal notes and a touch of sea-breeze salinity. Clean, bright, and inviting.

Mouthfeel
Light to medium-bodied with a zippy, refreshing profile. Acidity is well-controlled, giving lift without sharp edges. The finish sits right in the middle, neither short nor extended, making it incredibly easy to keep going back for another sip.

Food Pairings
Seafood, grilled vegetables, light pasta, bruschetta, or simple appetizers.

Verdict
A pure, clean, and beautifully made Vermentino that overdelivers in drinkability. Not flashy, just precise, refreshing, and consistently satisfying.

Did You Know?
Vermentino thrives in coastal regions like Tuscany and Liguria, where maritime influence enhances its natural salinity and freshness, often giving the wine its signature “sea-breeze” character.

🍷 Personal Pick
This is my kind of “patio pounder”—zippy, dry, and dangerously easy to drink. Not because it lacks complexity, but because it’s so well made that it flows effortlessly. Whether by the pool or alongside light bites, this wine adapts and delivers every time.

Beautiful deep ruby coloration. On the nose, cherry, plum, anise, cocoa, coffee, minerals, and warm spice. On the palate, cherry, tart berry, strawberry, vanilla, baking spices, minerals, turning to jammy fruit and a very long finish of the same flavors. Full body, with a rather rich mouthfeel. 2015 vintage with notable tannins still present. Revisited later with food and started getting notes of coffee and chocolate on the palate. Wonderfully full bodied and rich wine. — 4 months ago

Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo Maremma Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

2021 vintage.
Sangiovese 60 % and Cabernet Sauvignon 40 % from Pitigliano estate in Maremma, Tuscany with a southwest exposure.
Owned by Tommasi family since 1997.
Rompicolla is ‘breakneck’ but means tremendously steep and slippery slope…a risky adventure.
Soils are deep in volcanic tuff.
Stainless steel ferment and matured 1 year in 65 HL Slavonian oak casks.
Red cherries, raspberries, savoury spice, and floral.
Medium bodied but fresh and clean on the finish.
This wine loves food ….and I appreciate that.
