Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. Although this is Godello from Bierzo, this was meant to be a fun counter example to Sketch which is arguably a bit unique when it comes to Raul Pérez’s typical style. The 2020 “La Claudina” pours a deeper straw color with notes of lemons, grapefruit, Brazil nuts, hazel nuts (yeah, it’s definitely more in the oxidative style) and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and saline with a slightly sherried, creamy texture. Charming stuff and definitely something I would like to track over time. Enjoy now through 2035. — 2 years ago

Gorgeous bouquet of raspberries and jasmine, smells like I want to wear it as a perfume. Tastes like carbonite boysenberries with hints of cocoa powder and blueberry Mr. Sketch scented markers, and wooly tannins. Love it's light effervescence on the pour, and great with a chill. — 10 years ago
Love the Goya sketch on the label of this sister wine to The Prisoner. 2013 vintage is excellent. — 11 years ago
Actually a Syrah. Label is a sketch of Tom's house, from the tasting room.
Very nice mouth feel. Tastes of cherry. — 7 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2022 Sketch pours a bright straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is youthful with fascination notes of white and yellow flowers, nettles, lemon, strawberry, orange pith, hot steel, wet stone, and oh the minerals! On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is so long and ever so saline. This was my first bottle of Sketch (finally!) which has been a bit of a unicorn wine for me. I’ve long had a deep respect for Raul Pérez but this wine has confirmed a special place reserved in my heart for him. They say once bitten… Drink now through 2039. — 2 years ago

Great visit at Mascarello yesterday. Before Bartolo passed away he was in a wheelchair & limited as to what he could do in the vineyards and cellar so he would work in his office & began to sketch his own labels. This is his most famous & controversial label. — 9 years ago
We had it at Sketch. Good funk. — 13 years ago
The description: 'Freshness, Fruit and Richness, the promise of Lavantureux Petit Chablis''.
The Petit Chablis from Roland Lavantureux is like a Bourgogne blanc from Antoine Jobard or Jean-Marc Roulot—a delicious, meticulously crafted wine that offers a taste of the magic found in the domaine’s more exclusive wines, with all the refreshing minerality and stoniness that is the hallmark of cool-climate Chardonnay grown on limestone. A sketch by da Vinci isn’t the Mona Lisa, but it still comes from the master’s hand.
The opinion: complex and beautiful.

I’ve always loved this ever since First drinking it at sketch. — 9 years ago
The label shown is the backside of the bottle. The front side is a sketch of a chicken. 2013 vintage. This was THE pinot noir that turned my head around. I LOVED this wine. I have stated before what a great label Big Table Farm is and this is one of those super wines they offer. Not sure you can still buy it, they usually run out before the wine critics can rave much about them. My only wish was that I made enough bucks to buy cases of each pinot they made from this vintage. This is outstanding Oregon Pinot from Willamette valley. — 10 years ago
Idiosyncratic winemaker, Raul Perez, never fails to interest. Huge fan of Sketch, getting to know his reds from Bierzo. — 11 years ago
