Tried the limited edition of the Barolo Marchesi di Barolo last night with my friend Vasilis. Paired it with roasted lamb and saffron rice and nuts and Dutch duck pate’. — 5 days ago
Ripe and deep nose. Huge stone fruits, peach, apricot, plum, tangerine and more. Some citrus undertones as well. Gorgeous minerality and unreal roundness to the nose. This is 13% which contributes to the depth. The 12% Steffensberg was more piquant and less deep. Amazing what an incremental tick up in alcohol does. Huge spice and vulcanized rubber. Light saffron as well. Palate is ripe and juicy and round with great freshness and depth. Really deep. So many piquant stone fruits. This needs air to open up as it’s holding back. What a long, luscious finish. Sapid. Pure. So complex and mineral. Juicy. So many stone fruits like apricot, peach and tangerine. I’ll be back as it opens. As this airs the palate depth is profound. The complexity ratchets up a notch as does the minerality. — 6 days ago
Holee shit. Best nose of the morning. Smells like a scene in nature. Holy moly. Honeyed apricots. So so insane. Minerals. Peach. So vivid, so precise, icing on a cake. Confectionery but also a scene in nature. Wow. Saffron? Smells sweet like but is bone dry. Juicy and pure, so fresh and so compact. Structured and dense. Crystalline purity. Compact. Stunning. Wow acid. Cheeks tingle and tongue does not tingle. Amazing freshness. This is superb and dense, but so nimble and elegant. The length is endless. This is as brilliant as anything I’ve ever had at fass selections. — a month ago
Drink with seafood, especially a bouillabaisse with a saffron broth (which was kind of Thai-ish) — 2 days ago
Well balanced, long but smooth tannins. Great with Risotto Saffron. — a month ago
Awesome now. Magic. Creamy and rich. Gorgeous slate aromas. Apple pie. Phyllo dough. Clean as clean can be botrytis. Saffron. So complex and refined. White pepper and a hint of sweet wild mint. Enormously complex aromas. Palate is ripe, creamy and so finesse driven. Salty and fresh with very good buffering acidity. Rich and baroque. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Enormous concentration and freshness but my goodness is this refined. Long finish finish that has that foie gras element that I adore in Mosel Auslese. A superb wine. Will track it as opens.
After a few hours, wowza. Nose is more fruit driven with pineapple and papaya. So refined. Palate is stunning. Layered and energetic but also hedonistic while also displaying the classic nimbleness of Classic Mosel Auslese. 9.6 to 9.7. Stunning. — a month ago

Apricot, roses, honey, sunflowers, oolong tea, fennel pollen, hay, saffron, rainwater. Beautiful wine. Could smell this all day. — 8 days ago
