medium ruby with quite wide terracotta rim . Quite light spice filled nose at first , allspice , clove , nutmeg with some liquorice and herbal , tobacco and red plum touches. On the palate a bit leaner than the 1993 , but light dried red fruits, sous bois , tobacco and herbal notes. Good length, really nice balance and intensity with fresh acidity and melted sweet tannins . This is still showing well and can last perhaps a further 5 years or so . Time for my #FridayCabernetfix. This week it's a wonderful Cabernet based blend from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose with blackberries, black cherries, vanilla, licorice, cedar, spices, earth, cloves, pencil lead, leather, chocolates, dark coffee, alcohol, spices and peppercorn.

Full-bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke and peppercorn.

Long finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is another very nice red blend from Napa Valley. Well balanced with a great mouthfeel. Showing nice complexity, but still young.

Needs an hour to open up properly and show some tannins, however it is good right out of the bottle.

This five-year-old is drinking nicely now and will get better in the next couple of years.

I just love these Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux Blends from Napa Valley.

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged separately for 21 months in small oak barrels.

Ruby in color with medium intensity and a wide reddish rim.

Fresh red berries on the nose and medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing fresh cherries, sweet raspberries, light wood, tobacco, black pepper, chocolates, spices, light earth and herbs.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Pinot Noir from Oregon is starting to drink nicely now, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Rich and fruity, smooth and spicy. Nicely balanced and complex, soft and elegant.

I've had a few vintages of this Pinot Noir and it is so much better with age. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

A good quality wine. Good right out of the bottle, and better with some airtime.

Interesting, easy drinking and a good sipping wine.

Pinot Noir grapes were aged in (55% new) French oak barrels for 16 months.

Medium ruby color. A nicely balanced wine with some complexity given its youth. Cherry and raspberry with a hint of forest floor predominate on the nose and palate. Smith finish with nice acidity. This is a nice Pinot and should age well. I bought this wine after reading Daniel Drakes review. I have other wines from Bergstrom which is a solid Willamette producer. — 5 years ago

A blend of 78% Cab Sauv, 12% Petit Verdot & 10% Merlot. Deep Ruby with complex dark berry nose, aged for 20 months on French oak (50% new). On the palate blackberry and cherry with notes of licorice and cedar spice. Vivid acidity, fine tannins, well balanced, long finish ending with mineral and smoky cedar character. This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Fruit forward and elegant. Spicy and entertaining.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.

Complex and engaging, with a soft mouthfeel. Really enjoyed the nose here.

This 5 year old Cabernet based Bordeaux blend is already drinking beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

I've had a few different vintages of this Cabernet and it is very consistent.

A lovely perfume the initial impression. Bunchy notes amongst the rose petals and violet florals. Medium weight and also medium intensity - a good mouthfeel with that perfume carrying through. Tannins almost totally resolved at 8 years. A very good Yarra Valley Pinot - quite Burgundian in style - the perfume being the standout. — 6 years ago

Nose of bing cherries, blueberries, wood, earth, vanilla, coffee, wet leaves, herbs, earth, vegetables, graphite and spices.

Dry and tangy on the mid palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, oak, smoke, tobacco leaf, spices, graphite, bitter herbs, black tea, earth, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, wood, wet leaves and bitter vegetables.

Medium finish with soft tannins and peppercorn.

This is a nice Châteauneuf-du-Pape from a great vintage. Would benefit from another 5 to 10 years of bottle time. Spicy and tangy with a lighter mouthfeel than I expected.

Not fully balanced yet, but enjoyable already. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show some tannins.

I paired it with meats, cheeses and olives.

A blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 30% Mourvedre. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
