Pipeño Aupa Maipo Valley Pais Cariñan 2021

Light and dry but funky, almost yeasty tannins mixed with berries. Distinct old vine Chilean varietals that I would like to see more of. — 3 years ago

I Tre Pais Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

Tasted over 2 days. Not much different after a couple hours of air. Solid traditional style Barolo. Much more open then when tried 3 years ago. Shy on the nose with earthy dark fruit, truffle, leather which were also predominant on the palate along with undergrowth, tobacco, and balsamic. Balanced acidity and soft yet expanding tannins. Finish is long with lingering tannins and an explosion of minerals. This is a hearty rather than a fruity Barolo. — 8 months ago

Pencopolitano Cinsault País 2019

Blend of Cinsault and Pais (aka Listan, Mission). Aged in foudres and cement tanks for one year. Very fragrant nose with aromas of pine needles and herbal notes. Light to medium bodied, mostly red fruit on the palate. Elegant. — 3 years ago

La Encina 2016

Black purple in the glass, with dark fruit and forrestal scent on the nose. A soft mouthfeel, with dark plums, blackberries and spicy herbs. A 100% Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo). Really nice now, but years ahead as well. — 4 years ago
