Domaine Bessa Valley

Enira Reserva Red Blend 2010

Wonderful Bulgarian Red Blend (55% Merlot, 35% Syrah and 10% Petite Verdot). Aromas of Dark fruits with hints of violets, black olives, cedar, vanilla and tobacco. Dark fruit driven pallet that also notes black olives, bell pepper and graphite. Powerful but elegant at the same time. Beautiful balance with nice grip on the lingering finish. Excellent! Thanks for sharing this one- Ron B! — 2 months ago

RED Blaufränkisch Blend 2006

Very approachable RED blend (60% Zweigelt, 30% Blaufrankish and 10% St. Laurent) from the Burgenland Region of Austria. Deep purple color. Aromas of dark cherries and purple flowers. Juicy fruit forward pallet with nicely balanced and refreshing acidity. This wine has aged quite nicely. Tannins are well integrated. Can handle being chilled. Nice wine. Chateau Trolong Mondot

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2001

Have to give a big thanks to @Ron R for this selection. Cant recall having a 20+ year old wine and this was memorable. Candied cherry when we popped the cork. After an hour decanting, there was dusty raspberry. Another hour and musty dark berries mixed with earth tones, slight spice and still a remnenant of the cherry flavor. Medium tannins and finish on this. Haven’t had this before so not sure how this performs with another 5-10 years in bottle. Color is still dark purple with very little rust on the fringes. Would definitely have again! — 19 days ago

Glad you enjoyed it. But so different in comparison to domestic products.

Definitely different but that is one of the great things about wine - different styles and tastes!

Château Potensac

Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Really enjoyed this Medoc. @Ron R told me once I should drink more French wine. So I listened. At 10 years of age, it seemed reasonable to open. — a month ago

Skippy, Bravo! This Potensac produce good wines, year in, and year out. They are approachable in their youth, but also cellar well. 2011 was an uneven vintage in Bdx, so they did some acrobatics to pull this one off! I’m guessing this is mainly a cab/merlot blend, but I could be wrong.

You are correct. They did some nice work here. Needed only 30 mins of air to level out!

Tinto Roble Tempranillo 2008

Toro Region of Spain Tempranillo based Red. Bright Red and black fruit aromas and flavors with notes of coffee, vanilla, black licorice and oak. Medium body and acidity. Needs some air to bloom. Nice Smokey finish. Lacks depth but still very solid. Thank you Ron B! — 2 months ago

Il Chiosso

Ghemme Nebbiolo 2007

Wonderful Nebbiolo based red from the Piedmont region of Italy. Extensive sour cherry fruit aromas and flavors with notes of leather, organic soil, black licorice, and pepper spice. Brick colored with classic Nebbiolo tannin structure. A bit lighter and more acidic than Barolo, but still bold and beautiful. Time has been very good to this vintage.
